Player ratings vs Palace

Didn't really take note of much of the performances, it's already been wiped from my mind, so could be a little inaccurate.

Kuszczak - 6. Couldn't really do much more, lucky not to be sent off after Murray's dive judging by the ref today.

Bruno - 5. Could've done worse to be honest.
Greer - 4. Had a very difficult job today, nice of him to give his shirt to someone in the crowd at the end though.
Dunk - n/a. Wasn't on the pitch long enough, but his stupid mistake cost us today.
Calderon - 4. Didn't really notice, but seemed like Bolasie had him under the cosh all game.

Bridcutt - 7. Kept Zaha quiet. MOTM.
Hammond - 5. Didn't really notice a lot of him to be honest.
Orlandi - 5. Not bad, hope his injury isn't serious.
Buckley - 5.5. Provided a minor threat but never really looked like scoring.
Barnes - 6.5. Worked well today and won the ball lots, setting Mackail-Smith up for a one-on-one.

Mackail-Smith - 4. Work-rate great, but that doesn't guarantee him a good mark and he really needs to do better with composure and snatching at chances.

Crofts - 6.5. I seem to remember him making several strong runs after coming on, but as we were down to 10 men, there weren't enough people forward to set up any chances.
Dicker - 5. Helped limit the damage.

Why 'player ratings' are irrelevant -

How can anyone seriously give Dunk a rating of 3 or 4? Indeed anything other than "n/a", or zero?

Anyway, we did alright under the circumstances, bar a couple of individual moments of utter madness.

Won't rate as I only watched it on live stream but I dunno about playing with 10 was more like 8 to me ... I hope Bruno and Greer donate this weeks wages to a good cause

I imagine a few of the team weren't best pleased with their performance. Bruno had a shocker defensively and on the ball. Dunk is, I imagine, massively regretting his moment of madness. Greer is hopefully having a long hard think about how he played. CMS for all the hard work and effort he put in must have had nightmares about that chance he missed.

Unfortunately we were f***ed over at the start of both halves. Dunk's stupid red in the first putting us on the back foot from the start. Then CMS missing a golden opportunity in the first 60 seconds of the second half followed by Murray's dive.

How different would it have been if we had 11 for 90 mins? Somehow I think Palace would have been too good for us anyway. Impressive squad.

Kuszczak 8. Some impressive goalkeeping, but again some wayward kicking.
Bruno 7. Has played better.
Greer 5. Thought he was poor today.
Dunk 2. Stupid. He should have let the guy shoot. We'd have possibly been 1-0 down, but at least we'd have had 11 players on the pitch.
Calderon 6. Did OK in the circumstances.
Bridcutt 7. Did what he could in difficult circumstances.
Hammond 6. Didn't impose himself.
Orlandi 7. Did OK playing out of position at left back until went off infured. Ribs? Hope not too bad.
Buckley 7. Few opportunities.
Barnes 5. I figured Gus would play him again, but bad decision.
CMS 5. Crap shooting. Lots of running around.

Crofts 7. Did OK.
Dicker 5. Didn't see him do a lot.

Kuszczak 9 made some cracking saves controlled his area well

Greer 8 played well
Dunk . Stupid, yes but should have been a yellow ref was told before the game make sure Brighton do not win
Calderon 7 did his job
Bridcutt 8. Couple of poor passes otherwise played well
Hammond 6. Did he do any thing
Orlandi 7. Did OK playing out of position at left back until went off infured. Ribs? Hope not too bad.
Buckley 7. Few opportunities.

Somehow, I doubt we will. Confidence is probably at a low following yesterday's debacle and I suspect that Gus will have real difficulties motivating the players.

Well I have heard it all now.

He's 24. Murray was at Rochdale in League 2 at the same age with an esteemed past at Wokington Reds, Wilmington Hammerheads, Barrow, Carlisle and Stockport. There is no reason why a player who has scored 33 times in just over 100 games at League 1/The Championship level at his age cannot still improve. Stephen Dobbie was playing for Dumbarton at the same age.
