    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

Well, what we all hope is that Putin and his closest sycophants will disappear, and a new more democratic Russia will emerge, one which won't cultivate the extreme and macho "Mother Russia" fervour that Putin reveled in.

Apart from anything else, Turkey as a military force, is certainly aggressive, but it is a hardly a tier 1 force..... their best days are had flattening civilian enclaves in the PKK conflict that crosses their border with Syria....aka Kurdistan.

We still run 5 fully effective frontline Squadrons, they have performed well in a variety of roles...

Belarus has even less capability than what we are seeing from Russia....I am not sure any independent move from their military will get them anywhere, against anyone in the region.

So applying your warped logic.... Putin will be firing into the Baltic states and Finland... and maybe even Turkey anytime soon..... your wholly disingenuous Irish analogy, holds zero water.... as usual with your bizarre ravings.

Don't be so dull.... There are already NATO basis across Europe including Turkey and the Baltics... Have any of them waged war on Russia?.. the answer is no, NATO is a wholly defensive organisation... Only taking action to defend those who request it.

He is done... whichever outcome is now arrived at. Families of the dead and wounded, now in the tens of thousands will not sit back and allow him a free pass... the West will simply keep the pressure on to get him and his sidekicks removed. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

Crikey...... that's some cut 'n paste .... straight from a combination of conspiracy sites and cryptocurrency flogging platforms. Also, its mostly fantasy rambling of the highest order. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

The Israelis were close to using one against the Egyptians back in the 70s,.. Yom Kippur war,... and the Chinese in their vicious border war with Vietnam nearly went the way of the pear... but todate, none have been used.... however, Putin or that Belarus idiot, via a proxy arrangement, are...

He is more likely releasing westerners because of the potential to his own troops and reputation of SAS/Seal type raids to free them at some point further down the line... the morale of his servicemen is low enough without having to cope with these overheads in logistics and defence. It is across the entire eastern europe swathe of countries, including Russia .... it's a poor excuse to initiate a conflict costing tens if thousands of lives. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk

I haven't visited this thread for some time, I am wondering if the Putin friendly Swansman is currently choking on his Borscht as his much vaunted 'Soviets' get a shoeing from Ukrainian teachers, butchers and bus drivers. Currently, this set of developments are bringing me hope of some...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

If the US sits down with Russia over this issue, it will simply play into Putin's hand by broadening the whole issue to a more geo-political level, making the survival aspirations and future democratic direction of Ukraine, a minor insignificant factor in any talks about imaginary and mythical...

Hopefully, not forgetting that NATO and Russia already share borders in the Baltics,.... no big escalations in that region. Plus of course Turkey which virtually borders Russia through the Black Sea and Georgia.... again, no issues there.... barring the Crimea 'takeover' and a few Russia...

He cannot win here really, his military is just leaving Mali after a fairly rugged encounter with Jihadist extremists there,.... years of French involvement has barely scratched the surface, casualties, poor leadership and political constraints have meant others are now replacing them in...

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

It is absolutely a tactic to drive a wedge between the UK and the rest of the western european nations. The UK, outside of the US, has the strategic experience and ability to 'manage' a conflict or policing action. Granted we dont have the numbers of other nations, but our key spearhead units...

I am all for free speech, and this platform has been a good example of that freedom, right from its inception. However, it has always been a good example also, of a site that won't hesitate to ban or delete offensive and/or willfully false posts and posters should the occasion demand it. Could...
