What makes me so sad is that the moment he decided he was going to do this, she had no chance at all. Very few people are going to fight back against what seems like an arrest by a legit officer. At least with an attack on the street, while ****ing awful, someone may have seen the struggle and helped, or she may have known to fight back. She never had a chance.
It’s so upsetting.
That makes me angry too.
What also makes me angry is listening to every woman who is talking about this. Every woman who is saying that this is how it has always been - this fear. And, they are talking to us. They are talking to me. They are asking me what I am going to do about it.
I think that's the real debate that we as men owe it to women to have. It's the only way we can create a better society. We are not all Wayne Couzens, but we do all have to play a part in changing male behaviour. And we need to call it out and not throw the label 'snowflake' about whenever we do so.
