pay day today so ahd a bit of a vinyl splurge, as I do;
Best Coast's new EP, Fadeaway, 7 tracks, really good, they are developing their sound, it's less poppy but still catchy as all **** - I love Bethany;
Bamboos new LP, Fever in the Road, 6th album from Aussie soul stalwarts, as good...
same here, only I'll probably have to wait a while for it to be available here - I thought about the whole video stream thing but would rather wait to put the needle in the groove and hear it that way first, that's just me. There are some very enthusiastic reviews (I just read Rolling Stones and...
the Arctic Monkeys AM vinyl finally came in yesterday - listened to it twice so far and I'm thinking it will probably be a grower, not overwhelmed as yet and I'm more likely to put the awesome Elvis Costello & The Roots effort on for yet another spin when I get home tonight frankly....
really? I was rather disappointed, all too predictable and hugely self indulgent, however, if you can't do what the **** you want in your 60's when can you! I enjoyed Americana better, very unexpected that one....
Latest purchase in our house was again for the Mrs (do you see what I'm doing here) - City and Colour's The Hurry and The hard (on vinyl of course) - very good album IMHO.
I bought both the Yeah Yeah Yeah's and Suede vinyls for the Mrs and both are ok but bizarely neither came with any form of download! The Yeah Yeah Yeahs is better and the artwork is insane, the Suede one starts off very promisingly as a real return to 90's form but then drifts into too much...
I'd never heard of Parquet Courts until last week reading about them on this thread and then checking them out on itunes - liked what I heard, went down 78's, bought the vinyl and must have played it half a dozen times over the weekend - great stuff. That may be my only NSC musical discovery...
Interesting, the wife spins the Bowie album every chance she gets yet can't stand Atoms For Peace which I love - not quite a Jack Sprat situation at our gaff but close
Must check that out, used to love going to see Tackhead, especially when LeBlanc opened with his touched up drum kit - still give the Pay It All Back series a spin every now and then. As for taxcider.....
Yup, Omar Hakim, he played at RAH in Sting's band for the "Blue Turtle" tour - can't remember which track it was but he had a fully ten minute drum solo, mental. I love cranking the iPod up for Contact as loud as I can take it, and my ears ain't what they used to be, just love it.
Spot on Tubs, it's been massively hyped up and marketed, played everywhere, and is arguably mainstreamBUT, it's just awesome. I still can't get enough of Contact.
My 9 year old son said to us the other day "I've been thinking about what the lyrics to Get Lucky mean" to which my wife and I...
His band played an outdoor moody show here recently promoting it with Mark Lanegan as support - then Lanegan duetted on Where The Wild Roses Grow, just imagine....
BRMC - Specter At The Feast: just goes to show how subjective reviews can be, everything I read suggested it was as weak as they've done but it's a grower that basically condenses their whole career in one great album.
Eels - Wonderful, Glorious: the title says it best.
The Strokes - comedown...
