nibble mate , you're a classic example of someone who knows london in a very superficial way, with most of your knowledge coming through various forms of media , a simpler version of this sentence is " you don't know what you're f***ing talking about".

Bushy, we all know that anyone who doesn't agree with your rather shortsighted views doesn't know what they are talking about. How could it be any other way? You are clearly the most sensible, well-informed, experienced poster on here  Why do you think they house poor foreigners there? Cos no-one else wants to live in the hole, not even you!

Going to be honest with you here, when I walk up the street in Luton I don't hear a word of English being spoken. The residents of this road are now Eastern Europeans, Africans and people from Asian countries. Is it OK to say that I feel like a foreigner in my country.

At least we have some form of choice in the matter, the Brittish Empire was pillaging other countries of their natural resources well before your local Burger king was staffed by Poles.

We already are, we have shale gas and we are expanding our nuclear energy capacity , whats your view on renewables are you a biomass man or do you thin solar is the way forward , i'm not sure why i'm asking you a question anyway to be honest, all you'll do is reply with cliche or a neutral soundbite .

Ok as you asked so nicely first the cliche with the neutral soundbite - Well of course we need a balanced energy policy.

Our nuclear energy sector is in serious decline and there is still a big gap between the political will and the cost to private companies to finance this. I think we need at least one more generation of nuclear power stations, to give alternative sources a chance to mature.

Interesting you support shale gas extraction. This is very noble, are you not concerned about earthquakes in Haywards Heath ? Balcombe is a key test site for shale gas extraction after all. Personally I think we should go for it, if it is cost competitive. It will be cleaner than coal.

Wind farms are a little more tricky. There is plenty of opposition to Rampion where I live. Personally I don't see a bunch of windmills on the distant horizon, as a particular eyesore, but there you go. I am concerned about the costs of offshore wind farms though. We have a bloody massive eyesore just up the road (Beeding cement works) and personally I would cover the hills above this mess with turbines.

yes and its the class of people that benefited least out of the empire that are now bearing the brunt of the colonial guilt of prats like you, so how far do you want to go back , should we be pissed off at the romans , the vikings ? didnt think so.

I don't argue your point, all I'm saying is that this is a democratic country (of sorts), it's not like these people have held a gun to our head and forcibly taken our resources. If you disagree go and vote for someone who agrees with you, as is your constitiutional right. If, as you say it's only "colonial prats" & immigrants in favour then they are massively outnumbered by the working man. You should have no problem at all.

Bang on. We just think there are more problems because it's easier for TV to bring them into our living room. Compared to 50 years ago there are probably far fewer problems, we just know about more of them.
don't think so mate.......my older brother travelled freelyin the 70's ..got on the ferry at Dover in 73 and went over land all the way to australia....spent nearly two years in afghanistan , iran ,pakistan and india......a year alone in just java..... the whole trip took him nearly 7 years .....you just could not do that now ........the greed and hatred that has been stirred up by the information technonlogy revolution has had a chronic affect on the general violence and unrest in the world these days.

Little or no downward effect on wages or youth unemployment ?? Are you f***ing sure ?? As for your comments on GDP , they are disingenuous to say the least , HERE is some research which says so

Ah, I knew it wouldn't take long for our resident xenophobe to make an appearance.

And your choice of Anglo Saxon; how apt for someone who can no doubt prove his ancestors stood on these shores long before those swarth teutonic hordes polluted your once sacred national gene pool.
