[Albion] Pervis rumour. Not sure on credibility

Hopefully Pervis was only following orders when he'd leave opposition wide players about ten yards of space out by the touchline game after game.
I think he was following orders.

FH wants his full backs high. Or at least one of them. Whoever we have in there is going to be caught wrong side sometimes, as no matter how quick they are, they aren't as quick as a ball being passed.

Well, I suppose that as an aspiration its not such a bad thing.
Mind you, actively recruiting dick heads hasn't done Marseilles much harm, footy wise.
I'm sure that Marseille would say they run a no-dickhead policy too

They'd point to Elye Wahi - signed for a big fee on a five year contract, didn't perform and had a big old strop apparently, out of the door in January for the same price.

Because it means nothing in reality, the aspiration can be manipulated to mean whatever you want!

A lot would have to happen for Solly to be first choice left back.

First he would have to get fit. Properly fit, not just 10 mins a month fit ... and
Ferdi, either can't gain fitness or is played elsewhere, probably right back ... and
We can't or choose retain Barco ... and
We don't see enough pace from Boscagli to feature there ... and
We don't manage to get this Brazilian fella ... and
FH doesn't prefer Tariq on that side ... and
We don't buy anyone there not already on our radar

It's not the likeliest of scenarios. But we've seen enough of Solly to know how capable he is and full back may be the best option for him in the last years of his career

If this is Pervis Brighton playing obituary, he can go our our gratitude and the promise of a warm reception on his return to the Amex. He's been a good and at times very good left back. Historically a problem position for us!

It's good that we're finding this out now as we need to consider our options in this position

Kadioglu. Is he ever going to get over this toe thing? Will Hurzeler really want him on the left side, or will that make us look unbalanced?
Boscagli. Will the idea of him lining up at full back have PL wingers licking their lips at taking on a centre back for pace out wide?
Are we changing shape?
Are we getting in the Brazilian lad in?
Sounds like the Cuiabano could still happen - our offer is better than Forest's apparently.

Expect Kadioglu to be first choice LB next season - it is his most played position, and we paid quite a lot for him. There is still some conjecture about Barco and whether he is actually going to Strasbourg or not (I thought it was all done and dusted but apparently Weir said he'd be back in pre-season and they'd look at him then).

You're spot on re: Pervis. Transformative under RDZ and very good under Hurzeler. I think we all expected there to be a much bigger hole when Cucurella jumped but he has more than replaced him. That trade up has been one of the finest bits of work from the club in the PL era. Any criticism of his defensive abilities ignores the fact that we play him as a marauding wing back, and that despite that, his defensive stats when compared to full backs across the top five leagues are some of the best overall.

I've been a big fan of Pervis over the years but it has been a while now where his performances have been poor and quite often he has been a liability. I wish him well at his new club, wherever that may be but I am quite pleased we will be looking to replace him.

This season Perv had resorted to pushing players that get the better of him with 2 hands. Total liability.

He really hasn't.

The best example of this was against wolves at home. He feared a four on one was not enough so bombed forward to make it a five on one. Sadly this proved not enough but did vacate his area. Bizarre play.

Estupinan shocking defending at 1:13 and 1:34. Strange, in 2022/23 he'd been possibly the best LB in the league.

Was one of the best left backs in the Prem under RDZ.Unfairly criticised recently whilst playing in a very exposed system that hasn’t suited other players also!
Great player with proven Premiership ability and a very good signing for any club.

He was poor in 2023/24 too.

I am a big fan of Estupinan and would have previously said he’s one to keep…

But reading his comments last night I’d say we have to send him on his way. I get we are a stepping stone for players and we know our place on the conveyor belt…. but whist they are with us… they need to be with us.

As soon as you start touting yourself around, you should be done. Not through spite, I wish him all the best…. But I don’t want to see him in a Brighton kit again. If he stays, it’s clearly because no one wanted him or a deal couldn’t be done… not because he wanted to stay.

I think he’s been fantastic for us but wouldn’t be gutted by him leaving.

Maybe not like for like, but I have faith that there are other people that can do his job. Or even a tactical change up altogether (such as back 3) would reduce the need for him.

He's off to Palarse.
No chance. They would not want him. They had people on here saying their first eleven was miles better than ours and only Baleba and maybe Mitoma would have a sniff of getting in. No chance Pervis gets in over Mitchell. He would go as a squad player and nothing more.

Their first XI is strong.

I'd add JPVH, Rutter, Veltman as the equals or better than their equivalent. After all we did finish 8th.

Sometimes when you read some of the comments about our players on here, and especially in this thread, you do come to realise that we have some compete twats supporting us who wouldn’t spot a decent player if they were sat on their knee.
