If he can stay fit Solly is more than capable of playing left side of the defence.
Sadly, it appears to be a big IF that he stays fit, he has had a few pretty serious long term injuries so I would hope we aren’t making him a first choice. When fit he indeed more than capable though. Like Webster we need probably long term quality cover for them during the season

Hopefully Pervis was only following orders when he'd leave opposition wide players about ten yards of space out by the touchline game after game. They must have thought all their Christmases had come at once. Can't believe that he lacked that level of awareness of where his man was, it became a regular and quite costly feature of his game

The best example of this was against wolves at home. He feared a four on one was not enough so bombed forward to make it a five on one. Sadly this proved not enough but did vacate his area. Bizarre play.

The one that springs to mind for me was Wan-Bissaka for West Ham at the Amex at the back end of April. Rarely seen a player left in that much space completely untroubled by a defender

It is what it is. It's our model. Our selling point to these players is that there will be a time where they can move on. I don't blame him and actually, if those comments are how they read then it all seems quite amicable.

Good luck to him if/when he goes. Short career and a contract with a new club at 27 will be the MEGA one of his time as a footballer so now is the opportunity.

I wonder what kind of fee we will be expecting.

This is not a long term option.
Disagree, have always thought he would end up there. He is an excellent tackler and while he is very good as an inverted right winger I always hoped that, as he got older, he would drop back to there. Natural left footer and that pleases me. Just IMO of course.

Yep this caught us out on numerous occasions last season. And also where he was caught to high up the pitch against a speedy winger with no chance of catching. Newcastle game seems to spring to mind, though can't remember who he would have been playing up against.

Nonsense. He isn't a left back or will be. Filling in for the occasional game is completely different to holding a place down.

He's had two major operations in the last 2 seasons, and became injured after playing a handful of sub appearances and his first 60 mins in almost a year and a half. I would not be relying on him as first choice Left Back, a position that isn't his preferred, great option to have but any reliance on him I'd be concerned.

I do love Pervis for the most-part, but my god does he have some complete bozo moments in him - I think that wild shot vs Liverpool (H) when we were holding onto a lead epitomised that.

He has an exceptional work rate, which is handy for a player to have when they are so often caught out of position. But I'd be happy to move him on for a decent fee (30m maybe?) and replace. In fact, providing Kadioglu can regain fitness, I think we have our replacement ready to go.

Spot on especially with Cubiano (whatever his name is) interest and rumours that Barco may not be leaving after all. I think Left Back could end up looking pretty stacked. If we could then stop kicking that never ending can down the road of a new specialist Right Back we'd seem pretty sorted.
