Was it not simply a throwaway comment made by Matty Ryan during an interview?
I've definitely heard it from more than one person at the club over the years. Ashworth was a big advocate of it.

It's a New Zealand Rugby thing coined by Gilbert Enoka and we're not the only club who have a weird obsession with the idea.

It's funny how the Potter haters miss the fact that he did us a huge favour in making a vacancy for the wonderful RDZ, who could do no wrong (and only left us a few places lower than when he took over!)

Yes, it was annoying he left the way he did, but that doesn't change the fact that he left us in a very good place.
Seriously?! :lolol:

The gormless twat left us 'in a very good place' in September, a point in the season where genuine class managers like Sir Alex Ferguson wouldn't even look at the league table. Potter couldn't wait to cash in his miserable chips at the only point in his Albion tenure where he wasn't an abject failure. A failure that he's carried with him ever since. His West Ham implosion following the sale of Bowen over the Summer promises to be every bit as entertaining as his implosion at Chelsea :bigwave:

Yep, seriously. The two-way attitude of some on here cracks me up. Yes, we were all upset and annoyed when he went - in the days leading up to that we'd all been clinging on to a hope that he'd tell Chelsea to do one, and stay loyal to us. That's all of us. Every one. Trying to deny it would be even funnier.
I'm over it; life's too short.
What is funny though, is that no-one was calling for the gormless twat who could only get us to a pathetic highest ever 9th. place to go and join Chelsea - please, please pretty please join Chelsea. No, it was universal shock horror and disappointment that he'd gone and ditched us. Hyypia might have been different! Now, manager-wise, he was a gormless twat (but an honourable man).
I remain highly amused. :lolol:

Well, I suppose that as an aspiration its not such a bad thing.
Mind you, actively recruiting dick heads hasn't done Marseilles much harm, footy wise.

Whilst rehashing the tedious Potter argument yet again is boring me to tears, I feel in fairness it should be saud that @Tom Hark Preston Park was relentless in his hatred of Potter for every single second he was our manager. Possibly from before he even joined Swansea, let alone us. I suspect there is some Birmingham hipster related trauma that we will never know the details of.

Yeh, you may be right. I'll just continue to chuckle at sone of the more preposterous discrepancies, but otherwise I'm out of it. :)

I think the Ferdi purchase was contingency planning for Pervis leaving ( potentially) this summer. Shame Ferdi hasnt been able to play more. We then bring in the young Brazilian from Botofoga to give us back up. Boscagli can also play left back if needed.
£35m gives us a £15-20m profit.
Onwards and upwards.

This is quite funny.

A player that has been a weak link for us for 2 seasons and we need to upgrade, wants to move to a bigger club 😂 What next, Ferguson handing in a transfer request because he wants to play in the Champions League?!

If Pervis genuinely thinks he’s better than us, he needs a MASSIVE reality check.

The club must be laughing. If the figure suggested for him is anywhere near realistic, we will have had an unbelievable result.

Ok Perv off you go.

First season for us was outstanding and looked every inch a player that wouldn’t be here for long.

Last couple of seasons have been patchy at best, best moments have been him going forward as defensively he has regressed and is often outpaced, out fought or often out of position meaning he makes some shocking desperate lunges or pulls players back.

If he thinks he has the quality to be a first choice at a better team then good luck to him.

I've loved Pervis at times don't get me wrong, but I think our squad is in a great position to deal with this departure and if we can get a lot of money for him, I think this is a perfectly acceptable move especially if we can get £30m+. He's been at best inconsistent for the last two seasons, and at worst erratic and chaotic. I think with him nearing 28 its best for all parties.

If this is Pervis Brighton playing obituary, he can go our our gratitude and the promise of a warm reception on his return to the Amex. He's been a good and at times very good left back. Historically a problem position for us!

It's good that we're finding this out now as we need to consider our options in this position

Kadioglu. Is he ever going to get over this toe thing? Will Hurzeler really want him on the left side, or will that make us look unbalanced?
Boscagli. Will the idea of him lining up at full back have PL wingers licking their lips at taking on a centre back for pace out wide?
Are we changing shape?
Are we getting in the Brazilian lad in?
