I think people often assume we're the biggest mugs without knowing the first thing about how it works in other countries though.

I think people often assume our european "partners" also adhere rigidly to the rules like we do

BBC News - France to continue deporting Roma despite EU pressure

Italy set to deport Gypsies - Romea.cz

can you imagine the handwringing that would go on amongst politicians and the judiciary here if we tried doing what france and italy did.

I think Ireland appear to be allowed to get away with a lot more of that sort of stuff unchallenged than the UK would.
It also appeared quite hard for us, as returning UK nationals, to re qualify for certain entitlements and benefits because we had been away from the country for eight years. I was unable to reconcile that in my head with benefits made instantly available to new immigrants.
No,no,no that doesnt happen ....................

It is all down to the overspending by Labour, and Browns relaxation of controls on the financial sector, and selling our gold reserves for peanuts. Why do you think others like Germany and the USA are in nowere near as much shit as us? Don't believe every excuse Labour trot out!

The problem was the over reliance on the banking sector. Germany and the USA don't have such a reliance, they have other things to fall back on, exports for instance.

"WILL FACEBOOK TAX THE QUEEN?" I think we have a right to know. Does the Queen pay tax? The Queen pays tax on a voluntary basis from her private income, but not on "head of state expenditure". But she did not pay almost £20m of inheritance tax after the death of the Queen Mother.

The Queen owns nothing, not even herself. It all belongs to the State, which she uses as Head of State.

Or was it something to do with a Global Financial Crisis? Blaming either UK political persuasion is futile this crash was global on scale and neither party could do much about it and both were complicit it its causes.

Had Labour not screwed up the British economy all by themselves, the UK could probably have withstood the global financial crisis. John Major left our economy in the healthiest position for decades and along comes Gordon, rubbing his hands with glee, and sold the country. When the global financial crisis came upon us, we could not deal with it, and still can't. The country is top-heavy with State employees all out to preserve their own management jobs, while cutting front-line jobs. The benefits system is such that we pay out more in benefits than we receive in taxation, partly as a result of the minimum wage, partly as a result of immigrants receiving housing and benefits long-term, partly as a result of Labour's encouraged culture of the State paying lazy people NOT to go out to work and partly as a result of young girls getting pregnant so they can leave home and have the State house them and pay for their children. Add to that the number of British companies now owned by those from foreign countries (including airports and electricity) and an excess of foreign workers who send their wages home, with the result that billions have been pouring out of this country in the last decade or so. The present Government has been left trying to work with its hands tied behind its back. Making that worse, is the fact that the coalition don't actually agree on what is to be done, so nothing much is done, except U-turn after U-turn. We actually need an emergency all-party Government, where party zealotry plays no part, but where the aim is to turn this country's fortunes around to prevent it from crashing headlong into third-world status, which is where it is heading at the moment.

Greece is trying to deport its Roma, too. Bulgaria and Romania are overrun with them. The main problem with the Roma is that they are stateless, they have no country of their own and many of them have no paperwork, ID cards or passports. They hailed from Asia many centuries ago, and have lived in Europe but outside European society ever since then. So you can send your Roma back to, say, Bulgaria, but where can the Bulgarians send those who have lived there for several generations?

Difficult, isn't it? Sometimes I think of starting my own Party! (What's this new multi-post business?)

Hovagirl you have packed a huge amount into one paragraph and I don't doubt your passion, but I have absolutely no idea where you are going with this. If we are going to include the financial mismanagement of the labour party in your emergency all party government, maybe I can suggest a few more we could co-opt in.

Some Mary Magdelene laundries for the young mothers.
A Logans Run policy for the over 65s
Converting the entire public sector to a workers cooperative model
I would suggest a few nazis to deal with the Romanies.
Replacing XFactor with a new show for the unemployed, where the public gets to vote who gets a job. That should help swing things back in favour of the local candidates.

Absolute rubbish. She has a massive personal wealth, property portfolio and art collection. It's all hers to do with as she wishes.

Thanks but seeing as you can't even work out what a third is even when it's written in percentages next to the figure and you work in finance for a living I'll pass on that marra.

A simple mistake nibble , made whilst i was working a lot of different prices at work, a lot different to you not even being able to grasp the difference between the Queen as a figurehead, owning nothing and Elizabeth Windsor as a private individual having personal wealth. Whats with all the silly expressions from you lately , the latest one being your use of the term " marra " which I believe is used extensively in the north east to refer to your mate, are you perchance trying to make yourself sound a little more "street" instead of the ex public schoolboy usually unemployed "actor" :lolol: that you really are ?

I'm aware of the difference. Usually unemployed? My bank balance and the fact that I am having to turn down work at the moment tells a very different story but I wouldn't put a penny of it in the hands of someone who cannot even display simple maths skills yet claims to work in the city in finance? Hmmm.

Can I just ask how you "know" I'm unemployed all the time? Do you know my name? Do you know who I am? No, so you couldn't possibly know. You really do show yourself up as a fool with your obsession with my career. You give your uselessness at your supposed job away by getting entry level maths wrong. Well done, I bit again. I'll leave you toit. Waste of bloody space you are MARRA.

Turning down work , really , the last "major" production that you claimed to work on was some obscure documentary that has since sunk without trace , and what do you mean , my "supposed" job ? There are several NSC'ers who work in the same field and we socialise together , I could hardly lie about my job or status without them ridiculing me if i wasnt telling the truth.

No, just happy to set the record straight when something I work hard at gets insulted by NSC's resident bigot. Like the new name by the way. Much better than that Nazi drivel.
