I’m not sure taking them out of one competition, and putting them in another competition where they will have broken the same rules, is likely to survive any legal challenge which would inevitably come.
They would only be displacing us from the Conference League, and personally I'd be a little disappointed if our club kicked up an unseemly fuss and launched a legal challenge over it. But who knows....

How could they get relegated to conference league?

They've not in any way qualified for conference league. They didn't win carabao and their league position doesn't qualify them.... so that should be a non starter.

They only qualified for Europa league as FA cup winners. They're either within rules to play in only completion they qualified for, or they're not and should get booted out of only competition they're qualified for.

They should not be offered conference league any more than they should be offered champions league.

They have zero eligibility for either.

When I say relegated, I of course meant "relegated" in the broader sense. I seem to have hit a few sensitive nerves here by voicing my own musings on the situation, and given some people the impression I'm some kind of Palace cheerleader or apologist, so I'll just shuffle off and go and sit on the naughty step for a bit.

You haven't hit any sensitive nerves at all. You're just talking bobbins.

Palace can't play in the Conference for the exact same reason they can't play in the Europa - because they're in breach of MCO rules. Blitzer owns significant shares in both Palace and (Conference-qualified) Brondby.

If UEFA apply their rules, then Palace are ineligible for both competitions. Capiche ?

Not at all mate. No slight on your musings at all.

Relegated, switched, moved too....whatever.

Palace have absolutely no right whatsoever to be in the Conference League.

The only competition they could be in, if they meet the ownership rules is UEL, if they don't meet the rules their is no consolation prize.

Im pretty sure UEFA rules include moving a team to a lesser competition in order to resolve the multi ownership conflict. So if they didnt also own Bronby, they may well have been demoted to the conference.

Well done Nottingham Forest. I trust BHA are writing to all the other PL clubs and point out what NF have and a few more contact UEFA and game over Nigel!
I sincerely hope they aren't. And they won't be. Barber and Bloom have more class than that.

I think they should. Especially if Palace are allowed in. If nothing else but to get clarification on the rules of multi-club ownership. I suspect a lot of clubs will. The rules need to be clear so clubs can abide by the rules and if you don't know what they are it's chaos.
Why should some clubs be able to take advantage of it and qualify for competitions? It's not a level playing field.

My main point in this inst would be that any such approach would be viewed with scorn and derision by other clubs, especially given that Albion were set to benefit. Would we be expected to do so if it was another club and we weren't the next benefactors ? We wouldn't. I can trust that Tony and PB wouldn't stoop so low as to try and influence UEFA to our benefit in this way. And I'm sure UEFA would also take a dim view.

It is, of course, the kind of behaviour I would expect from the Forest owner, but not from my club. UEFA will decide as it sees fit. I think our man Maguire has suggested Palace are likely to succeed. It is what it is.

What...stoop so low as to suggest that UEFA apply their own rules ?

Well. The very idea. Someone give me some pearls to clutch.

I would expect the club to write or meet with them even if we finished 15th. The fact that clubs who have some aspect of multi-club ownership, like ourselves, do so in certain ways to align with competition rules and others don't but still can qualify for the same competition means we are at a competitive disadvantage to them.

I would want to club to seek clarification so that we can operate without the disadvantage that we currently have. It's not about asking to kick them out and take their place but more about how we can be competitive next season compared to clubs who gain more advantage from multi club ownership by not following the rules.

Apparently, according to Sky, the decision has gone to an independent (from UEFA) committee that will make a judgement on whether or not Palace have broken the rules. Nothing more, nothing less. I suspect there is f-all they can do about it now other than crossing their fingers.
I hope they have that interview of Textor basically saying he could have appointed Glasner to either Lyon or Palace.
