[Football] If Palace can't play in the Europa League

I would expect the club to write or meet with them even if we finished 15th. The fact that clubs who have some aspect of multi-club ownership, like ourselves, do so in certain ways to align with competition rules and others don't but still can qualify for the same competition means we are at a competitive disadvantage to them.

I would want to club to seek clarification so that we can operate without the disadvantage that we currently have. It's not about asking to kick them out and take their place but more about how we can be competitive next season compared to clubs who gain more advantage from multi club ownership by not following the rules.
I wouldn't be surprised if Barber has written to UEFA, on behalf of the Club, seeking urgent clarification on the rules of multi-club ownership and on timescales for resolution of this matter, so we can plan our resources for the upcoming season. We're too classy to make this public, but it would have been written in formal legal language so UEFA are aware that we would reserve the right to take things further if necessary. That is the right way to add pressure to UEFA and their due process.

What a load of bollocks that is - should not need to take another 3 weeks to make a decision on this shitshow

Can only see it going in Palace's favour if they're dragging it out that long
Yep, make an exception in this case is what I reckon will be the outcome. If they were being chucked out it would be quicker than another 3 weeks.

Not great for Palace either. You need a bigger, better squad when competing in Europe. They are at a tactical disadvantage in the transfer window, they don't know what they need for next season.

Fortunately, we already have a massive squad so it doesn't affect us so much in terms of transfer business. That's because we plan for Europe, even if we don't get there. Perhaps Palace should start doing that!

Giving Textor the maximum opportunity to sell?
Or as is being reported release the shares so they can participate.

As another poster has said UEFA checking their own position legally?

3 more weeks of squirming for them up the road, whatever the outcome, unsure of whether to commit to new tyres for the caravan for the potential overlander to FK Bodø/Glimt or wherever.

The draw for the Conference League play off round is 5th August 2025. This is the round that any English team will enter.
So in that respect there is plenty of time to make a decision.
Although if I was in UEFA’s position, I would want clarity on all countries entrants by the time of the first draw on 17th June 2025.

End of league year presumably and still well before the draw. Gives Textor a chance to sell and the problem goes away if he successful
Parish’s company Smoke and Mirrors will find a loophole to manage it I’m sure. How legal it will be, who knows?

I don’t think we’ll participate….

Next best though is Palace get demoted, play in the play-off round against a Welsh (or other UK minnow) qualifier and get knocked out…..

With Marinakis in the background (no doubt threatening to sue), I'm pretty sure the extra time is needed to get high-powered lawyers involved. It could also be related to the investigation into Lyon (if they're banned from European competition it resolves the problem).

It's 'unfortunate' for Palace that it's Brighton and Forest who'll benefit most from their expulsion.

Regardless of letters being sent, Uefa will be very aware that both Tony and Marinakis have previously needed to restructure their ownership of other clubs to satisfy the rules.

It wouldn't be a good look for UEFA turn a blind eye to that lot now.

Exactly my thoughts. Palace out, Palace sue. Forest out, Forest sue. UEFA in deep trouble now with a huge motivation to sort out rules on multi club ownership once and for all. One person/legal entity should only be able to invest in one club.

Feels to me like they are running down the clock in order that negatively impacted clubs have little time for legal recourse. That could still be Palace I suppose. But yes, a load of bollocks!

Enough is enough, Palace - you're sullying the fine name of English football now.

You've broken the rules, hold your hands up, admit your guilt and save everyone the bother of thrashing things out in ugly, time-consuming and expensive legal ways.

Consider yourselves fortunate that there are honest, well-run and organised clubs available to take your place and fulfil the Premier League's obligations to UEFA's competitions.

I think UEFA must stick to their guns. However, it sounds like they are tolerating an exception, i.e. extending time to get things in order, to let the most important club in world football play on a bigger stage.

They are smart and will be alert to the possibility that somebody could use a patsy to be joint shareholder and then there would be a gentlemen's' agreement that somebody with a minor registered shareholding could have the 'Beaky' say to flout all eligibility criteria.

EUFA need to be strong and send a firm message out.

We’ll almost certainly have made a contingency plan for participation, which will probably be as simple as retaining a few younger players that would otherwise have gone out on loan. That’s what a well-run club does.
