Drink was the cause? Interesting that as I went to both matches and probably drank quite a lot of beer, I don’t recall myself trying to start of fight or indeed showing any aggression to anyone else.

Long shot here, perhaps the people that drink it are the cause.
Never a cause, often an excuse.

(Same with drugs, the relevant intoxicant in the present case apparently).

Glad to hear all those injured appear now to be doing ok.

Drugs involved apparently.

In case anyone is interested in the latest theory from the cesspit of right-wing Twitter/X, they’re all claiming that the person filmed driving isn’t actually 53, as if they can tell his age from a very poor picture, and not only that he is actually a remote controlled dummy and the police are lying to us all about having arrested a driver at all. Presumably this narrative is leading towards the conclusion they want that it’s a brown skinned terrorist behind it.

Edit to add: footage of some bloke pulling off the rear number plate once the crowd starts vandalising the car is also spawning more crackpot conspiracy theories. Dear oh dear.

I wish I was making this up. I’m not.

Twitter is like the National Enquirer, a 'newspaper' bought by millions of Americans and Canadians.

When I lived in Canada I remember some corker headlines:

"Famed psychic's head explodes"
"Elvis' grave found on the moon" (this one was reproduced in the UK, maybe in the ooh aaah Daily Star).

The trouble is that too many thick people have too much money and free time, and not enough supervision.
Forty years ago it was said "Q. What do you get if you give the plebs money? A. Fat plebs".
Today, what do you get when you give plebs enough money for a smart phone?
You can guess the rest.

I’m sure the very quick response from emergency services prevented deaths.
I think the speed the vehicle was travelling also reduced the likelihood of fatalities - thankfully. More by luck as I expect he'd have gone faster if he could have. Although the car was driven erratically with a number of stop/starts ... max speed was probably below 30mph. It's the reason we have 20mph zones around schools etc.

As someone else posted, it does look like those injured are recovering - which is good news - but mentally, it's going to be difficult for many ... including those that weren't injured physically. Just horrendous.

I read one horrific anecdote from a survivor, where the car hit the child’s pram knocking it to one side, and witnessing his partner going under the wheels.
The baby, thankfully was unhurt, so he left it in a nearby restaurant with someone, whilst he tried to help his girlfriend. She is ok after hospital treatment.
The ambulance staff were excellent.

Have you seen the ‘joke’ the supposed stand up comedian Andrew Lawrence put on X. I’m not going to post a link. People can find it if they really want to. Comedy clubs have started cancelling his shows - quite right IMO. And rather than delete his post, he’s double down and put a video on YouTube entitled ‘Scouse Meltdown’.

I don’t do stand up comedy. It’s not my thing. I know that some comedy is supposed to provoke and be controversial etc … but surely any normal person would know where to draw the line.
