the joke in the Daily mash about blaming the Met Office might have a hint of truth about it. they are relying on computer models of where the ash is and will be, not actually using observations or flying recon planes to find where the ash is. Apparently their aircraft for such things happens...
everyone is thinking there's ash about, but its more likely pollen or general pollution. i read today that volcanic ash had been detected on the gorund "as far south as Oxfordshire", sort of suggests there none in BN (or theres nothing to detect it?)
apparently they dont control smaller airfields such as Biggin Hill, so it seems its not quite as clear cut as we are led to believe. Maybe it only applies at a certain hieght?
now that doesnt make any sence does it? private boats and yachts are free to come and go as they please and theres no control i know of on leaving a country. just have to make sure you go thought the proper channels when you come ashore in the UK. you'd have thought they would want stranded...
