Boulaye Dia

He is the one

Get him in Tony!!

I have to say I agree that he seems to be a likely target this window as he has been previously

2 goals in his last 19 games for Stade Reims.

The goals that he scored prior to those 19 games this season appear to be mostly aided by awful defending after what appears to be, a number of quick breaks or they are penalties (lots).

Our problem is breaking down deep blocks amongst bottom six sides, Dia would get no space to work in and the likes of Burnley would easily block or save most of his shots. He doesn’t seem to get many with his head either.

I don’t think he’d bring anything to the team, he could possibly be Locadia mk2.

Avoid.

You could be right.Given the dire finances of french football and the fact that West Ham seem to have lost interest,he could be available at a sensible price,

As you say,we do not want Locadia mk 2!!

I just think he could be worth a punt. Its all about opinions

France is certainly a good place to do striker shopping as you say. I’d be willing to gamble on this guy if we miss out elsewhere though because I think we desperately need new blood and another option for when the likes of Welbz, Maupay, Tross & Connolly are all failing to convert big chances.

I suggest we start making big noises about buying Jordan Rhodes! Just to see how long it takes West Ham to be linked with him

Oh I don't know, maybe he is worth considering purely on his ability to be able to convert from the penalty spot. We have been pretty much impotent at that ever since the departure of Tomer.

Locadia 2 is very harsh, although I accept could be accurate

Parison Daka claims to be signing for Leicester which may well quell their interest in a certain Celtic striker that we have also been looking at.

Just seen Dhaka’s claim on the BBC gossip column

Which is shit conversion rate.

I've read that the xG for a penalty is around 0.75. So scoring 7 or 8 out if 10 is pretty much par for the course.

How did our penalty misses fare against other Premier League teams last season?

4th worst in the league (66%), just ahead of City (55%), Fulham (50%) and West Ham (50%). Room for improvement but both Maupay and Gross got excellent career penalty records, I dont think its a large issue.

On average, depending on the season, usually somewhere between 70-80% of all penalties are converted (usually about 60% conversion rate when playing from behind and somewhere around 90% when leading)ö

In the nigh on forty years that l have been watching the Albion, we have consistently been pretty poor when it comes to converting penalties.

In the modern era it has only been Tomer Hemed who l could pretty much rely on hitting the back of the net from the penalty spot. Prior to that l would have to go back to the 1980's when Danny Wilson would take them, when l could relax and be fairly certain that he would convert.

In fact throughout Gus Poyet's reign, he would famously turn away, or even hide behind the dug out when we were tying to score from the spot, as so many were missed.

I felt the same confidence before that when Brian Horton took them. Also for that matter, any other time when he was on the ball.
