People seem to think anyone who molests a child is a paedophile, which is incorrect.

A Paedophile suffers from a psychological disorder. A child molesteror can be a straight or gay person during 99% of the rest of their sexual activities.

Molestation is an anti-social behavior. Paedophilia is an orientation.

I rather think that by definition anyone who molests a child is a paedophile. true the reverse is not necessarily always the case. to make a distinction between molestation and paedophilia like that, implying the paedophile (as you redefine for your own purpose) is just needing some councilling is rubbish. Underlying BigGully's point is that there are many different types of paedophile and some will be right nasty bastards, some the meek socially inept creppy fella. the latter is the stero type but ironically probably the least worrying. often to gain the trust, abuse a child and cover it up requires some considerable social skills, premeditation and planning. these people are manipulative of other adults to cover up their actions too. how can you say its "just an orientation"

For all those defending the actions of paedophiles I wonder if you would feel differently if it happened to one of your children?
Sexual inclination is one thing, but the lengths of cruelty and depravity some of these individuals and groups go to is sickening and pure evil.
If they are capable of such extreme, pre-meditated behaviour, they are capable of seeking help.
There should be far more sympathy for the abused, not the poor perpetrator for their 'unfortunate sexual preference'.
