I hope not but this could be first time DE Zerbi is cheesed off. With the money we have got in No excuses for not getting someone in. Especially with all PBs talk of always having ready replacements for anybody leaving.

Fans talk about De Zerbi like he’s some kind of high maintenance partner who is going to leave us and take the kids if we don’t give him what he wants all the time.

He’s a manager. He knows very well that no club in the world, will give a manager every player they want all the time. Probably even the likes of City miss out on targets and don’t get exactly what they were looking for 100 % of the time and he’ll know that and realise sometimes he will have to make use of what he has.

We've replaced Mac and mwepu tbf.
Plus we couldn't be sure for a long time that Chelsea would meet the price for Caicedo. We have plenty of players in that position already - it's just that his sale has probably allowed us to look higher up the food chain for the next in line, so couldn't happen until then.

Baleba is a target and we're just waiting for them to get their replacement in according to the latest reporting. Sounds like its going to be a cool £30m.
Kudus - we walked away from the deal it appears. Probably the right thing to do given - according to reports - his behaviour.

As for other targets then Dahoud, Pedro , Verbruggen, Milner and Igor have all been secured. Three of them have already started in the first team.
And Adingra looks a great addition to the squad.

There's really nothing to suggest that we're not going to get several signings over the line before next Friday if we need them or that RDZ is not being "backed".

Not sure why this is "intriguing" or "struggling" or translates as "not really planned ahead". Nearly every club is still doing business in this window.
Sounds like totally normal to me and perplexing when you can't move for articles or pundits saying top of the league Brighton are the best club at recruitment in er, the world.

Oh well. Tough crowd.

It also stands to reason that the type of players we're now looking at are harder to secure. We're dipping into a bigger pond rather than focussing solely on virtually unknown South American super kids. Not easy for a club with a sensible wage structure.

I think Pedro will fill the Enciso void out wide and someone else will step forward into the number 10 role, Gross, Dahoud, Gilmour, Lallana. I suspect this will force some game time to Alzate. I don’t think it’s a massive catastrophe. I do echo others worries though about appeasing RDZs ego, he can go in a heartbeat if anther club comes in for him, way to avoid that is to keep him happy here.

In hindsight it is a shame now that we loaned out Moran Sarmiento and Bounanotte - can we have one back please?

We still need a backup and LB though for Pervis, can’t believe the lack of rumours for this obvious positional void (and yes I know Milner can cover)

I don’t get Sarmiento he’s gone from our bench to theirs and probably less suited to the championship. I thought he always looked a danger when he came on.

Against Wolves Enciso was the number 10. March and Mitoma were our wingers. Although the way we play is very fluid so we often see those players interchange. When Pedro came on last weekend he actually ended up playing on the left at the end of the game, having also played as the striker and the number 10 before that.

I’d expect Pedro to play the 10 with March and Mitoma on the wings as normal and either Welbeck or Ferguson as the striker tomorrow.

We do not have a defensive midfielder

I thought Moran and Buonanotte haven't gone on loan (yet).

Fergie starts tomorrow according to RDZ.

I agree we knew Caicedo was going months ago so I can only presume things have not gone smoothly on our approach to players.
We thought he was going months ago but nothing set in stone so all the time Caicedo was still here we
A) we were not prepared to splash out.
B) The player we wanted to sign might not be willing to come to us with Casiedo still here blocking the position the new player was inheriting.
C) Its possible we might be going for someone we didn't think we could splash out on after selling at a higher price. (Doubtful but possible).

The media narrative is we already have replacements in our squad, I’m saying it’s not always the case. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’m also saying we had 4-5 months to find a Caicedo replacement and we haven’t as of yet.
So how do you replace someone who hadn't actually left we were still hopeful of keeping him.
