Funny that no-one thought DK was doing the wrong thing at the time.
Err, I think you need to go back to May 2008 threads before making a statement like that.

I was one of many who at the time went apeshit at what Dick Knight done.

The board have got exactly what they deserve for what they done.

Unfortuantely, us fans have to live with it, and put up with trips to Morecombe, Accrington and Burton next season.

Its a debatable topic but its in the past so it is pointless debating because none of us really know the ins and outs of what happened

Here's the evidence:

After a very disappointing defeat to Port Vale:

Was Wilkins treated shabbily:

Wilkins or Adams, just after Knight had done the deed

The same as above just before the season started (swing towards Adams)

Another good one just before the start of the season

The irony of some of those comments on the P.V thread.

WW accusing Wilkins of being reliant on loan signings, little did we know what was to come.

TCB saying Wilkins would suffice for mid table League One, no more. Well MA certainly diid more than that .

That said, WW wasn't calling for him to be sacked.

The irony is, P.V/Mansfield were two poor performances over 07/08, yet in 08/09 we got thumped at home 4-1, lost to 9 men at home, drew at home with the worst two sides in the league(Cheltenham/Hereford) and all that before November..

I'm a big fan of some of the reasons to sack Wilkins:

- Insistence on playing people out of position
- Blatant favouritism of certain players, even when they're not good enough

Sound like anyone else?

Sounds like every bloody manager everywhere.

Yes, it must all be put behind us, blah blah blah. What's so disappointing to me is that there is a sense of something half-finished, of the potential of Wilkins and that team of kids that has now gone, disintegrated, not to return.

Gutted when he was sacked but enthused by Adams' return, just an empty feeling now. The last two games, walsall and MK, have sapped so much enthusiam from me. Whats the point? Going down with a whimper, Murray will go, Forster will retire and its 98-99 all over again. Give Brian Horton a call, stick a fork in me, I'm done.

The club has to move forward now and insure that the right people are at the club in coaching roles and the playing side to move us forward on the pitch again.

Next season needs to be positive, we cannot afford to be going backwards with apathy rife moving towards Falmer.

Dick and Co are trying to be positive and are tyring to laugh off this season basicly because they are so embarrasst.

Yep, I wasn't over the moon either, DW's sacking was shocking then.

Classic emulation of David Gold, from his mate in the Brighton chair.

Where do you see anybody trying to 'laugh this season off'?? Nobody will find relegation a laughing matter, NOBODY.

However, I do agree those at the top are almost certain to be embarrassed by relegation this year, and that will be the reason they aren't flaunting themselves publicly like in a more positive year. That's natural isn't it? Aside from the Chairman/Board coming out and saying sorry, what else do you think people will be looking for?

I agree with the comments about not having closure on this issue.

For many fans it is hard to reconcile the public humiliation of his sacking with many years of good service he put in for this club, and without adequate explanation I think many fans will never forgive Knight for that.

I think the chickens will come home to roost when the time comes for season ticket holders to renew.
