Who is this Fabrizio Romano bloke? I’ve never heard of him and don’t see why he would know any more about potential Cucurella to City rumours than Naylor, Owen or their City equivalents. The way people hang on his every tweet, it’s as if he’s some sort of mafia boss that gangsters have to go to to get permission to do a job or hit.

So, probably, do Albion too. Take out OUR (relatively) “massive” earners and our average would be down too.
Maybe we need average of all minus bottom/top 3 or 4 earners.
I have a theory about him.
1. He gets ALL his info from agents.
2. He pays for the info with either money or information.
3. He gets the ladies, he’s bloody gorgeous!

He got a job with Sky Sports Italy on the strength of his veracity on football transfer rumours, he tells what he is told by agents, not a cleaner at the club or someone lower down the chain.
His Wiki page certainly suggests he is "in" with a number of agents.
For me, that means that while he gets confirmations correct, some of the more fanciful rumours are simply agents pushing for a move or pay rise for their player. Not dissimilar (closer to home) to how you'd see a Brighton fan with a load of followers confidently announce, every summer, "unfortunately it looks like Dunk is off to <Big London Club>", followed shortly by Dunky signing a much improved contract here.

In the final 24 hours before a transfer is announced - when he says "here we go" - he is very reliable. If he tweets "here we go" about Cucurella then I'd believe him totally.
When the transfer isn't so imminent his information is more subject to change.

I noted that there was a piece in the papers about Solly March fancying a move to Arsenal, two weeks before he signed a new contract. It's a blunt tool in the negotiation, get player to state publicly that he is open to a move, or spread a rumour of interest from a bigger club.

I have seen similarly cynical people on Twitter describe him as a tap-in merchant. 24 hours before a transfer is officially announced is hardly a scoop and usually already tweeted by the journalists closest to the clubs in question.

This is where I am with him. Seems to be the most reliable on transfers. Obviously that reliability increases the closer you get to a sealed deal. Prior to such closure, the info he provides seems clearly to come from agents rather than clubs, and that info is obviously about a negotiation that might be confirmed, and might break down.

Yes, but he does it for most of the bigger clubs around Europe. If you don't find him useful, that's fine, ignore him. On the basis that he's proved himself to be reliable, he's about the only transfer specialist that I'll pay attention to. I also pay attention to Naylor and Owen, because they're also extremely reliable about B&HA.

He’s reliable because he totally gets it- to be respected on Twitter etc you need to be consistently correct. So he only tends to mention things pretty concrete. Doesn’t mean he has any particular inside knowledge, he’s just got a very good editorial process.
