Okay. Thanks for the info. Not sure what a gold pack is either. I better do some research. This will be my first Fifa game so will need some help i think. Probably after being killed online by a 4 yr old from Uzbekistan

If it's your first Fifa game, I'm fairly sure you'll have no need or interest in the gold edition. Just go to Tesco on release day and you'll probably pick it up for £35.

No not at all, I personally think the 'special edition' of Fifa is a bit of a con. The extra benefits you pay for can still be achieved from playing the game normally.
From everyone I play Fifa with, we only play career mode, online seasons or online multiplayer.
Put simply, I won't miss out on anything by buying my copy from a supermarket.
Amazon usually tag on an extra £10 for their 'special editions'.

There's a part of FIFA called Fifa Ultimate Team (FUT) where you put together your own squad through a trading card system, you can buy packs of players with real money or with 'coins' earned by winning games against the computer online. You can also trade players on an online auction house system. The packs give you a chance of getting either bronze rated, silver rated or gold rated players. The gold rated players are obviously the best but clearly even then there are worthless gold players and extremely expensive good ones like Aguero etc. With the ultimate edition you get a free gold pack every week for 24 weeks, so if you like the sound of that part of the game then it might be worth investing but if you just want to play normal teams against friends the I wouldn't bother.

This. The ultimate team thing is a bit geeky. Career mode, online play and playing against mates is where it's at! And I'll be going to a supermarket too.

I think if you look on line at Amazon,Tesco and Asda they ALL give you the pre order price promise.That if on the day it is cheaper in the shops or Amazon on line, you will get an automatic refund of the difference. So I shall be ordering 2 copies from Amazon to help Nsc coffers

I'm not going to bother getting Fifa 13. As It Is I had to fork out over £150 to get parts for my pc to run Fifa 12. Was not happy. The system requirements are way to high for what the game offers. :/

A console costs less than that? Why, may i ask, did you fork out for a pc to upgrade rather than just get another platform to play it on?

I'm sorry but PES is an absolute embarrassment now compared to FIFA. It stopped being good in 2008!! The last 3 years FIFA has been faaaar superior.
