Brighton FC is 'more marketable' I bet is the reason the owners want to change the name. Whitehawk FC is something that the real locals can be proud of, the name should stay as it is IMO, they made it this far with the current name and local support. Just as they get some success the board want to capitalise by changing the name, typical football politics.

If you're going to get really pedantic over it Mr Rev, then what's the true Brighton? The ancient Parishes whom contain the name 'Brighton'? If so, then neither club would be able to claim the name of Brighton! Perhaps we should be renamed Falmer Albion, and Whitehawk renamed Ovingdean Hawks?! I think not!


I don't have a problem with the Brighton part of this name proposed name change, it's the City part. As it's been stated before Brighton is a town on its own. This name is wholly inaccurate and emanates ignorance.
