1 A smear is when you attack individuals rather than address the issues, THEN try to apply behaviour that is propagated by a few to party policy.

2 Positive Discrimination is leagal in all women short lists. The left has bypassed the law by setting "targets". They (labour) would know that they would get politically hammered if they tried to bring it in, hence subtafuge. How democratic!

The UK has had immigration controls since 1905 and ended any "open door" for Commonwealth citizens in the 1960's.

As I said above, if you dont like a law you can scrap it or ignore it then feed the population BS. As labour have been found out doing.

True they are beginning to get a grip with Asylum as loads of INDEPENDENT bodies have been screaming for the last few years about the potential catastrophy of their approach, social unrest/ BNP on the march.

As ever a list of assertions with no evidence to back it up.

The people identified in the "Searchlight" article were all UKIP candidates in 2001. If Labour/Lib Dems/Greens/Tories etc had candidates of the same type I would regard them with equal contempt, or do you not think that a parties candidates are an illustration of it's values and beliefs ?

In 2002 (the most recent year for which I can access Home Office statistics) there were a total of 115,895 grants of settlement (i.e. approvals of the right to remain in the UK). Of these 19,800 were employment related, 29,865 were for Asylum, 52,765 were for Family formation and reunion, 10,980 were on a discretionary basis and 2,490 were "category unknown". Hardly a flood IMO.

Exactly Dandyman! The levels of asylum and imigration are far lower then the media would have you believe and do not look quite as bad when you put them in the context of migration as well with a large number of people leaving the country, either to move to places such as New Zealand, America or Australia, or repatriotising to the West Indies etc.

As far as I can see the list of UKIP candidates in the Searchlight article refers to membership of extreme right wing parties in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Two key things have happened since then - (1) the people concerned have grown up (2) the views of society generally have altered considerably.

In the 1970s those 'extreme' views were fairly common and even endorsed by use in comedies such as Love Thy Neighbour and Fawlty Towers. Most, if not all, of those listed by Searchlight have now shifted well away from their previous racist thinking.

To me, UKIP is saying 'in the 1970s we agreed to free trade with Europe. We did not sign up for a European superstate, which is what we are now getting'.

Kilroy said: "Arabs have made no contribution to society" which is not true and highly offensive. I would have thought that a party trying to distance themselves from racist accusations might not get someone sacked for racism to advertise them.

I am not one of those politically correct nutbars. However, I think that someone on television saying that an entire race of people have never contributed anything worthwhile to the human race is a touch im insulting to people of that race.

Simply abstain. Don't give the Greens or the UKIP or any of the other irrelevent sideshows 'the oxygen of publicity'. Also don't vote Labour - no matter how much your heart and mind may scream at you to do so. If you abstain from voting Labour, your reward will be Tony B.Liar resigning in July for 'health reasons'. At which point the next wide-boy to take office may just think twice about the illegal and immoral invasion of a sovereign state despite the wishes of a million of his electorate protest marching through the capital & against the wishes of the Church of England, the Vatican, The UN etc. etc.

Ok. This will start an argument. Over 60million people did NOT march through the capital. 1/60th of the population actively oposed the War.

I shall be voting New Labour and hoping Blair remains PM through the next election.

This will happen because nobody will want the leadership with the cloud of Iraq hanging over the party. They will wait until that has died down and the next election won, and then take over.

I want him to stay for the next election too, cos with him in charge he's most likely to lose it for New Labour

The UKIP are a lunatic fringe.
Fact: 50% of Britain's trade is with Europe. This would go along with millions of jobs if the UKIP got their way.

The EU is not perfect but it and the other treaties have helped to keep the peace since the war.

The U. K. does receive grants/subsidies etc. from E.U. Plus, we have a say on matters that affect other countries. So please stay clear of UKIP.

Absolute crap. 43% of our trade is with the EU - what about the other 57% ?

The EU has not kept peace in Europe - NATO has.

How kind of the EU to give back a very little of OUR money !!! If we pulled out we would have an awful lot more.
