Down in the city, where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,
She wheeled her wheelbarrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Singing
BRIGHTON!!!!!

It was "In Brighton's fair city"

As a twelve year old I can remember

Colin Harvey asked Bill Shankly if he'd heard of the North Bank Highbury, Shanks said no I don't think so, but I've heard of the Brighton Northstand

Who's "Colin Harvey"? It was "Bertie Mee"! :lolol:

What about when the West Stand were annoyed by the ref,

"Ohhh myy what a referee, what a referee, what a referee...."

I bet that used to intimidate him!

I used to like the ritual "West Stand, West Stand Give Us a Song" sung at times of triumph...

I always imagined them to be mainly rich businessmen smoking cigars for some reason - they didn't really approve of the North Stand but would usually respond with "Seagulls, Seagulls" and then get a cheer back

hahaha my grandfather and his brothers used to sit in there and they were rich businessmen

These were the correct words , the reason it doesn't rhyme with North Stand is because other clubs used to sing North Bank where they had just terracing (without a roof) behind the goal.

I thought it was an Arsenal song and the last line would originaly have been,
We are the Highbury, north bank.

Ah! The push down the terrace as a corner or shot came in!

Being fifty yards from where you started after a goalmouth incident!

Great days indeed.(Wipes away tears.)

Up the Albion!

then spending 20 odd minutes trying to find your mates again?
