you know full well that is not what I meant
maybe a gesture like you are going to get a kick up the backside if you don't start playing like footballers and not like kids

Perhaps something similar to Gus's comments about thinking he had picked the right team in the first but not the second and players needing to do some serious thinking yesterday?

Lost faith... no, I'll always give a manager time. Of course he needs to use that time to instil our faith in him - and he isn't faring well on that count.

I have to say from everything I'm reading, hearing and seeing, there is very little about him that seems special. He hasn't wowed us with his signings, there doesn't seem to be any kind of development of tactics, his interviews are catatonic at best - someone tell me something good he has done, something that shows even a glimmer that he is a good manager?

I thought this was a pretty fair summary.

Many are assuming that once we get (I guess) Bridcutt, Orlandi and Ulloa back then we'll start winning, I hope so, but they've a big responsibility on their shoulders.

What I've see this season has been very ordinary with the exception of a purple patch v Bolton and a fairly solid performance v Reading.

I know there are other positives but I would feel a lot more comfortable had we been playing well and winning a bit and then got injuries and gone off the rails.

What part of "We don't have any fit strikers" don't you understand?

Barnes is a striker, Lita had 20 mins on the pitch, and midfielders also score goals in teams that are doing well. Crofts is capable of scoring goals, for example. That was the first clean sheet that Yeovil have had at home.

I'll have a go...

"Signings" are not really his department. All to do with money and negotiations between the likes of Burke, Bloom and players' agents.

Ignoring the extremes, "Tactics" in football are fairly simple and mainly revolve around having better players than the opposition. Most of our best players are out injured. Under Oscar we are playing a slightly more direct/attack-minded brand of football than under Gus but it would be fairly impossible not to be doing that...

His "Interviews" are in his second (third?) language. He is naturally guarded when in front of the camera. I am sure he is completely different away from the cameras.

He has been Brighton manager for too short a time to judge him. You need to look over a longer period. Ten years' experience playing and coaching at Barcelona, followed by winning a league title in his first season as a club manager, provides more than a glimmer that he might be "a good manager"...

It is ridiculous to be questioning the manager when we are so obviously completely screwed at the moment by injuries to nearly all of our best midfield/forward players. These 0-0 results away from home are not bad... Yeovil obviously less creditworthy than Reading and QPR, but the three taken together are fine.

I like this.

Plus, we seem to be creating consistently more goal scoring opportunities than we did under Gus, but we still have the same problem with our shooting boots.

No doubt there are quite a few Manchester United "fans" braying for the removal of Moyes, as too were there droves of the those with the patience of a gnat calling for Ferguson's removal in his first season there.

Give the guy a chance; Football Manager and internet porn have got a lot to answer for.

Now hold up. There is no reason, none at all to disparage Internet porn. Leave the porn out of this.

Oh OK, I suppose that is taking it a bit too far. I'd forgotten the old saying, when in polite company never discuss politics, religion, money or internet porn.

Sheesh, NSC would be deserted.

30 yard punts upfield to the opposition are not more direct attack minded football tactics.
As for signings and interviews, I get the impression that the board wanted a coach who is a 'yes' man after the last incumbent.

I think that might be a wrong impression. Tony Bloom is not the type of person who needs to be surrounded by "yes" men.

I haven't seen the documentation but I'm reasonably confident the key selection criteria for our new coach were concerned with coaching and managerial competence.

I haven't as we have got loads of Injury's but we can't keep slacking off games, then using this excuse the only thing I'm struggling with is his tactics as not sure we have a plan at the moment why did we go to yeovil and play one striker?. And also yes it will take time for us to gel with Oscar but when Gus first came in and for the first ten games I saw a progression even when we lost we were progressing at the moment I'm seeing no progression from the squad.

My only issue is our style of play has been so inconsistant thus far from what I can see.

I won't speak of HIM because I don't want another thread about HIM but at least under HIM we knew our style of play (some loved, some hated. Personally I thought it was wonderful)

However under OG we seem to have one week found the right style (the style of HIM but with more willingness to cross), yet the next week we'll go back to just RUSHING everything and not making passes stick.

Let's be honest, the summer's events and the general feeling around the club made this near on impossible to just step in and carry on with ease. Add to that the HORRENDOUS list of injuries (I NEVER want to blame injuries as that's the point of building a squad, but we are beyond normal now) and Oscar has a right struggle on him. He's also got a group of players who adored "HIM before" so that has to have an effect. Of course they try 100% for whichever manager they have, but it must have a slight effect when you've been moulded into a proper style of football. The example I like most is PEP going to Bayern and not even daring to try and implement Barca's style on them too much. He saw what was working and let the players continue. It's a difficult thing to do because, as a manager, you must SURELY want everyone to see the style you are implementing to justify your appointment but also balance it with ackowledging what was there before and what worked.

Given time he'll get it right, I'm sure of that. The signings this summer are clearly not ones he's scouted. I barely believe he'd even heard of Leroy Lita before we signed him. So judge him in January when he's had time to actually pinpoint areas in the team where there are flaws and the type of player he will want.

12 games gone, 14 points and a shambles on and off the pitch for the team, are you losing faith in Team Oscar ?

The question on this poll was 'have you lost faith in Oscar?', well my answer is no l haven't lost faith, but that's because l never had faith in the beginning!

Yes he apparantly did a good job with the B team at Barcelona, and won the league with Maccabi Tel Aviv, but doing well with reserve and youth team players in Spain, and winning titles in Israel is nothing like being successful in any division of the Football League.

Apart from many misguided members of NSC (some of whom seem to view him as the next best thing to Jesus Christ), and Tony Bloom who somewhat surprisingly was willing to take a chance on him, few people had even heard of him.

I have severe doubts, that even without our injury crisis, results would be much better than they are now. Amongst all the chaos and uncertainty when the chips are down at matches, there he is, sitting on the bench meekly, or standing watching in silence. If any encouragement or comment comes from the technical area it is Nathan Jones who is giving it, never Oscar.

Beware Tony, unless you take action soon, this man could ruin all of the good work that has been done over the last couple of years. One thing is for certain, the next half dozen games are absolutely crucial.

No, until we see an Oscar team we cannot make any judgements

Unfortunately he might not have time to build an Oscar team, he needs to get this current squad working well or he will find himself out of a job or in league 1.

This is a squad that finished 4th last season and has had additional players join to replace the league 1 players that were still on the books. Even with injuries we have a decent squad that should be putting together much better performances.

You are quite something.

Bridcutt, Ulloa, Mackail-Smith, a fit Lua Lua and Orlandi would not make much difference to our results but Oscar waving his arms around on the sidelines would do...? :clown:

I'll give you Bridcutt and Ulloa but the others were not ever present last season or were bit part players.

You could ask why players like Lopez & Buckley have gone backwards so babdly and why a player like Conway who played 25 games for the champions looks ineffective in our side.

Added to that we signed Andrews etc
