Not sure what that is about? Spurs had 3 'legitimate' shots on target from which they scored twice, plus they had two goals disallowed and they hit the post. In 45 minutes.
Does that mean the keeper must be at fault?

The Spurs match is a pretty good example. We cough up very good chances.

Thanks for posting.

Conventional thinking is that it's just a matter of time before Bart is given the gloves full time, but RDZ, clearly doesn't think conventionally.

And I see what RDZ sees in Steele. His passing is exceptional. In terms of short to mid range, risks attached passes, i'd take Steele over Ederson, in fact over any goalie I've ever seen.

The article also correctly makes the point about the quality of chances we're giving up to teams. Unsurprising when we're getting 7 in the box every time we go forward and we sold our specialist defensive midfielder and our first choice full backs have been injured most of the season.

I think that it's obvious that Verbruggen is going to be the long-term first choice for the Albion.

Saying that, I haven't been against the rotation policy this season. I don't quite understand it (despite my best attempts to rationalise) but trust that De Zerbi is doing something positive in bedding in a keeper after the fallout with Sanchez last year.

Also, Steele's eye for a pass is brilliant, putting pressure on Bart to improve his

39 + 48 saves, they have been busy, those Toon-goalies!
But look at the Sheffield keeper. He must have faced more shots than anyone else to get those sorts of numbers.

Having said that, we'll probably give him a few regulation saves on Sunday - which will put his save percentage up.

While most of us want continuity, the boss will continue to put some emphasis on development so that’s that.

Separately, most of the criticism of Steele is driven by that kind of Premier League big time Charlie snobbery that only wants the likes of Dutch international keepers rather than Sunderland ones

After watching Villa v Wolves Martínez is just as good as passing out as Steele the myth Steele is best in the league or whatever is a blue and white tinted job from some.

As a keeper myself, I do think there's a benefit to a run of games.

But also being a guaranteed no1 means you can be shit and still play, unlike any outfield position.

So it needs to be simply if you play well you're in and stay in. Unless you're trying to give a youngster a run in which case that also needs to be a run and not a switch.

I don't understand why keepers are treated so differently, but it might also be historically money wise you have one clearly better than the other.

Personally I Think Bart as number 1, and Steele as an experienced and very good back up is fine.

Are there any other clubs that have two keepers so similar, with different strengths?

Only a fool would’ve claimed exactly that. Alisson and Ederson are great footballers, their distribution top drawer. Both would’ve started countless lightning quick counters leading to goals a few seconds later.
