I think we need at least 37 premiership quality centre backs to provide adequate cover.

Another joke of a thread. Embarrassing

Indeed it is. I am really struggling to understand why at a time we are enjoying the most profound, obvious and signficant renaissance of this football club, we seem to hear more and more intellectually-challenged morons shouting louder and louder.

Saturday was a nightmare. We were poor and we had lost any chance of getting something from the game after 7 minutes.

However in the context of the broader picture we are moving forwards every month, every season.

Now there seems to be a level of ludicrous, irrelevant scrutiny of the manager, the food, the queues, the stewards, the pies, the toilets, the beer, the sweeties.......

Is it because there is a mass increase in the number of socially inept imbeclies are now able to reach a greater audience with forums such as NSC? Is it because after masturbating furiously to another episode of The Big Bang Theory, they win the Championship on Football manager? Is it because their impotent rage and need for thrills is no longer sated after another three hours on Call of Duty?

Or is it simply that we have a larger ratio of utter crettins who have access to the internet and no parental controls to stop them from introducing their mind-numbing, staggeringly tiny little brains and the retarded, mypoic opinions that come stumbling out of their tiresomely over-active gobs?

Not sure which it is but it's making this forum become depressingly unattractive as a place to visit from time to time.

Very sad. especially when one thinks back to the era in which NSC was created and the massive force for good that it represented. Now its populated by bothersome little oiks desperate for some air-time. What worries me more than anything is the frightening disparity between what they hammer out on their keyboards and what is happening in the real world.

So so sad.

Brilliant post !!!

And we can recall Vincelot, something i would have thought we would probably do by Wednesday when the situation of "which defenders will be fit" is clearer.

So they weren't match fit for Saturday, they could all be available by this Saturday except Dunk.
Start panicing on Friday if the situation is the same.

The other thing that the OP fails to note is that there is a good chance that both AEA and Bridge will be available for Charlton

Looks like only Greer and Calderon.

Bruno apparently has a problem with his ribs.
Dunk - three match ban.
ElAbd - injured.
Bridge - injured.
Painter - injured.

Good idea to let Elphick go, Gus?
Good idea to let Hall go, Gus?
Good idea to let Cook go, Gus?
Good idea to let Vincelot go on loan, Gus? A midfielder who can comfortably play central defence or full-back.

Add to that to his failure to fight to keep Murray, his persistence with Barnes, his reluctance to play two strikers, his refusal to consider a Plan B when tippy-tappy isn't working, and I'm seriously doubting whether Gus is the guy who can take us any further.

Thanks for what you've done so far, Gus, and goodbye.

Someone on another post suggested Curbishley. Maybe.

Had we have kept those players you mention, that would give us 9 defensive players after regular football.

We had a budget, Murray wanted more money than we wanted to pay, we could have said Ok whatever you want, forget our budget, but that would not have been a very good start to our having a sustainably and sensibly run football club. Let's not forget that GM could have stayed if he had wanted.

Barnes was our top scorer last season, contributes to defense and attack and is all round a decent player. Not surprised Gus picks him regularly.

He cannot take us any further because he only plays with one striker and because he is committed to a particular style of football? Clutching there mate.

And I know that this thread is not even based on a reasoned assessment and objective criticism, look at how you end the post. Thanks and Goodbye and here is a suggestion for a new manager.

You don't like the Gaffer, fine. But don't pretend that your rich footballing knowledge and understanding of the game are the basis for your criticism. You are part of the bitter whinge crowd, you want attention, and you want to vent your personal prejudices while disguising them as some kind of football related analysis.

Your entire post is bollox, next time just say "I don't like the manager" because that is what you really mean.

So, we have as starters:

Bruno
Greer
El Abd
Bridge

with non-playing back up options of:

Calderon
Dunk
Painter

And apparent further (midfield changing) options of

Bridcutt
Orlandi
Hammond

10 players for 4 spots, and people are upset that we didn't keep a further 3 or 4?

This sort of injury/suspension list in one area of the field is not so common that it's worth keeping lots of spares around. It's a burden on the wage structure and on the morale of the squad for those that see no way in other than lots of injuries to team mates.

And Tanno could probably to 75 minutes too ......

Am I missing something, or haven't we got a development squad who have just kept their fourth clean sheet in a row?

According to our manager they were both going to be fit for Palace, so let's hope that the current "good chance" means more than last week's "good chance".
