Personally am just sick of hearing about all of the petty squabbles and pathetic behaviour of supposedly professional footballers. Will they won't they wear a t-shirt/shake hands, he tweeted that about him, he is not talking to him because he slept with a girl who used to date his cousins friends sister

Players need to get their heads out of their own arses and concentrate on playing football

If Ferdinand doesn't think the campaign is having much of an effect, surely that's an argument for strengthening the campaign (and open up discussions about how to do this) rather than abandon it?

this is mental.

a) why should it be if ferdinand thinks something, then thats an argument to take his opinions seriously - am temped knowing his track record, that the opposite should be true. the fellas an idiot.

b) what are we trying to achieve here? racism on the terraces in this country has basically been stamped out. He has been in a high profile spat with another player, not a fan. how many incedences of racism in England have rio or most black players of his generation been subjected to? i think we are seeing the beginning of a racial divide developing in football, based on the media and a lot of the population condoning the creation of an influential power base due to fear of critisism or genuine analysis of peoples motives.

we will see a black PFA soon. this is not going the right way, and far to many people are facilitating it when they should be questioning it.

before we even start on the fact that out of all industries in this country, football is the one that is currently being hysterically pored over for evidence of racism. its utterly insane. why dont we look at the media industry who are helping to fuel this lunacy. certainly not as many black faces there.

I'm not saying I hold much value in Ferdinand's judgement on the issues of the day, merely saying the more constructive action for him to take in response to his opinion that the campaign lacks effectiveness, is to consider how to make the campaign more effective.

And I share your concerns at the hysteria in the media, which is acting as a substitute for an intelligent discussion about the issue, which lacks acknowledgement of what has been achieved so far.

i totally agree. much better than just SHOWING OFF, which is basically the sum total of his contribution so far. This is just another manifestation of the tedious handshake snub, a massive massive pose by a dull bloke who knows daft people will fall in line behind him as its a race issue.

I don't understand all of the hate on here for Sir Alex and Rio.

Quite simply Sir Alex is THE greatest club manager of all time, and Rio is one of the best English central defenders of the last half century. I think they both deserve a lot more respect.
