So all it takes to kick racism out of football is to wear a tee-shirt?

probably more effective than not wearing one.

this is posturing and showboating, like not shaking hands and all the other rubbish that goes with this increasingly babyish and idiotic league.

very very little to do with actual racism and people being victimised. a culture is developing in football that is insidious even by its own very very low standards. dont be fooled that you have to support every uttering on race, you are being taken for a ride.

normally at work if you dont follow the bosses guidance, you'll expect to be reprimanded for it. we say players think they are special above everyone else including the club, but then you are saying they can unilaterally defy thier bosses intrusctions. whatever. as for the ban, the FA gave the ban what more do you want? 10 game, a season?

at the end of the day, seems alot of people knocking a campaign without offering any alternative.

Interestingy enough ( Motty voiceover ) ..... For many years Alex Ferguson refused to do pre and post match interviews with the BBC after the famous Panorama programme exposed the work of football agents including his son Darren. This put him in breach of Premiership media rules thus leading to a fine being levied on his employers for every non appearance. So. surely old Bluenose can see a little of himself in Rio ?

thats alright then.

anyone defending him on all this is mad or a try hard liberal. he is turning very nasty and combine that with his stupidity (and also the hypocrisy considering his predoiminately white family background) and you have a poisonous mix. somke people on here are so confused and scared about this issue they are like norman wisdom stucj in a revolving door, trying desperately to find the right way.

make ferguson 100% right. just because his brother was called a bad name does not mean he is eternally beyond reproach. people arent thinking about this. this KIO boycott is about exercising power rather than any genuine beliefs in its effectiveness. its very very transparent if you arent scared to think about it.

I'm neither defending or criticizing him. But if you want to debate the issue, deal in facts.

the fact that he endorsed someone calling another mixed race man a 'choc ice', when he, like the fella being called the 'choc ice' are both mixed race rather than black. silly silly boy. hw anyone can take this boy seriously is beyond me. comes across just as nasty as JT, but people will shit themselves because of the race issue and the consequent carte blanche he is given in perpetuity because of it (i am sure all his white relatives must have loved his choc ice comment, the people who bought him up).

Perhaps he just forgot to wear the T shirt, like the way he forgot to be available for a drugs test.

Perhaps he was wondering who was the United player being sucked off in a Manchester nightclub toilet by the whore who shagged Rooney, whilst said player's agent stuck a finger up her arse. Does that sound Moralee repugnant?

imo all those refusing to wear the kick it out t-shirts have underminded the cause. its trying to do something of the issue, but ultimatly has no power or authority, only publicity. so if this is how those players feel, they are saying the campaign should stop, pack up and go. not that the boycotters have an alternative. and from Ferdinand with his "choc ice" comment, its very bitter.

if Ferguson has a view on the campaign and he wants his employees to follow that, i really dont see why he shouldnt be pissed that a senoir player has undermined the cause.

Except that Ferguson is a White Scotsman and the players (Ferdinand, Roberts) who don't want to wear the t-shirts are Black. That at least suggests that is worth asking why they don't want to take part.

Nice bit of spin - the "choc ice" comments clearly means someone who is one thing on the outside and another on the inside. Ferdinand has always acknowledged that he was raised by a white mother and seems close to her so I doubt it's a slur on mixed race people.

its worth asking, but this view is scary. if you hand over the debate based on skin colour then you create the perfect conditions for it to be abused. ferdinand is english and has a white family. ferguson lives in another country. just saying oh the black boys know best is asking for trouble. ferdinand dont really care about racism as much as he cares about the influence it creates for him. he aint a particularly pleasant bloke letting him dictate discussions on race relations on your behalf is madness.

its not spin. i didnt say it was a slur on mixed race people. i just hate the fact that he, like cole, was raised by predominately white family and he thinks its ok to imply that having 'white' characteristics, is somehow negative. also how uncomfortable in your own skin must you have to be to go down that road.

Greatest manager of all time.

Certainly the greatest in British football history. His achievements at Aberdeen were astonishing. Every bit as worthy of recognition as what he's achieved at Old Trafford.

it might be, but no one is asking that here, just having at a knock at someone who is supporting the campaign. curious what the reaction would be if Ferguson accepted Ferdinand's decision after his comments about it. also wonder the reaction if some white players backed this boycott...

so is it time to ditch it, apparently its not working and those its suppose to be in aid of are rejecting it.

It is used as an attack on mixed race people who are lacking allegiance to part of their racial make-up. Similarly, people who have Chinese parents and are born and brought up in this country are sometimes referred to as 'bananas' (yellow on outside, white on inside). Choc ice, like banana, is a racially-specific (or at least skin colour-related) term and not necessarily racist, as it is not a blanket term used to deride people simply because of their race, but because of their behaviour and attitudes not seen as being in allegiance with part of their race.

Very good.

Am I the only one who got this?

Shearer and redknapp seemed to agree on MOTD that if it was their belief that it wasn't working then they had the right not to wear the t-shirt.

I wonder what people would say if a white footballer believed the "kick racism out of football" campaign wasn't working and he declined to wear the t- shirt?

Would he be supported on the same way?

It certainly isnt specific to mixed race people, its an insinuation that someone is black on the outside and white on the inside , its a racist term because it implies you should behave and have characteristics according to your skin colour, its actually frightening that you have been patronised so much that you dont actually realise or acknowledge this.
