WSU, just below the seagull.
I was also there when Ross Johnson scored two goals in a match against Swansea away on a Friday night. Travelling support about 60. Coincidentally they were Ross’s only two goals for the club, which came in the same game.

A Swansea fan also tried to attack Micky Bennett during the match.

I was there that night. We got a late equaliser i believe to which the locals weren't too happy with. The walk back to the civic centre was interesting!

From memory some woman came out of the stand to our right and started waving a handbag around towards Micky.

10 April 1961 at home to Frem of Denmark. A friendly to launch the Goldstone floodlights. Can't remember the score.

At the end of my tether
Away at Cardiff City around 71/72 .... Third division.
I believe they scored first but Eddy Spearit took a 40 yard punt at goal and somehow it sailed in the net . A deathly hush fell on Ninian Park broken only by my cheering on the terrace

League Cup

Liverpool 4-0 Brighton

Most notable for the daunting journey of crossing Liverpool in the dark on foot to the railway station, unescorted, due to a national bus strike. Lovely, cheeky chappies those Mickeys!

I remember going to that game on a Seagull Special train which for some reason went into Edge Hill rather than Lime Street. Bunch of kids jumped on at Haywards Heath who didn't have tickets for the train. Saw them back at the station afterwards looking very worried as there was someone checking tickets at the gate to the platform.

Went to a few midweek away games during the mid nineties on the Love Bus where there were very few away fans.

Albion Reserves V Notts County Reserves.

"This led to a rather dubious record. With queues stretching all round The Goldstone, the 22,229 crowd became the record for a reserve team fixture at the ground."

You had to show a ticket for this match in order to buy a ticket for Albion V Chelsea FA Cup February 1967.

Blackpool with no petrol

What do you mean no petrol? We had loads after you unintentionally jumped the queue at the services!!

We were supposed to be going on the A21 minibus but it got cancelled so 4 of us hired a car and dribbled petrol, 4 star, whatever at every petrol station we found that had fuel. Most were rationing £10 a time. I think we pretty much had a full tank by the time we got on the M25 which we knew would probably get us there. About half an hour away from Blackpool we stopped at the services for some grub. The queue for fuel was massive so we decided not to bother and risk it that they may have some left on the way home. Timbo was just following the slip road past the queue to get back on the motorway when a steward who was directing traffic to pumps jumped out in front of us and pointed at us to go to a pump. Thank you very much, full tank, knew we were getting home and could enjoy the game. The cars in the queue we'd just jumped weren't as happy for us.

Non Albion weird one was Rayo Vallecano V Lorca. We were in Madrid for the weekend as we were going to Atletico on the Sunday. Saw there was a game on in the second division on the Saturday so we popped along. The home "kop" with the ultras behind the goal was sold out so we asked the ticket office how many tickets they'd sold for the away end. They told us none, so we became the away support for the day. 4 of us who had never heard of Lorca until that morning were now their only fans. We didn't help much. They got beat 5-0 and were relegated that season. Due to financial irregularities they were relegated another division. Think they are now playing in the 6th tier whilst Vallecano are in La Liga.

Can you imagine the emoting if that happened today? :lolol:

The public were an even bigger pack of mug sheep back then than today. Only a year after England's biggest cringe - all the union flags being waved at the world cup final

Wasn't it her fella ran on to have a go at Micky and she was chasing him with her shopping bags?

Brighton vs Barnet at Priestfield was pretty grim. Our lowest ever attendance. I can't remember anything of the game other than a strong memory of it being absolute dogsh** .

Randomly I remember a pre season friendly away to Bideford when Steve Gritt was in charge. John Westcott played like George Best in that game, and I remember being amused by graffiti on the back wall of the home terrace that said in large writing, "Bideford Skins". It's quite a surreal memory thinking back on that game.

Wasn’t that also a SKINT v LOADED ?

Away at The Shay, Saturday September 11th 1999.

Halifax beat us 2-1 with barely over 2000 fans in the ground. Somewhere around 100 of us I’d say.
