Been playing like he wants to leave for a very long time. When he's bad he is really bad. He was a consistant 8/10 when joined. Have to say he's a 5 / 6 most weeks now.

Been a good servant for the club but a parting of ways might be a good thing. We can do better LB IMO

I think his opinion of himself is a bit high though
I think that in his first season he looked exceptional but he had Caicedo covering for him if he lost possession whereas in the last two seasons he hasn’t.
I also got the hint that when Moises went Pervis lost some of his verve.
He couldn’t really leave at the end of last season because he was only just coming back from injury, so his stock wasn’t high.

I get the impression that he has always seen himself at a ‘bigger club’.

If my memory serves me right, when we did purchase him he’d originally wanted to join Spurs and made a comment that he wanted to join a bigger club than Brighton, but accepted our offer when Spurs didn’t move on purchasing him. ( I may be wrong on this)

Anyhow, if he wants to move on and we make a profit on him, then fair enough. He’s always acted respectfully when he’s been here, and on his day has been great.

What makes you think that?

He doesn't appear to come across like that to me at all. He just seems to have gone backwards since that injury and isn't anywhere near the player he once was. Also, he's making some increasingly poor and irrational decisions on the pitch.

Behind the scenes. I have no idea whatsoever what he's like.

I don't begrudge Pervis anything, he's done his time with us and earned the right to move on IMHO

Absolutely this with bells on. Some of the posters on here need to take a look at themselves. He’s given us 3 seasons of 100% effort and hard work, never agitating for a move or shirking any responsibility. A model professional, who, if he moves on, will be with a big thank you and warm welcome back from me.

Well, I'll sit on the fence between the two forming camps.

He's been a good servant to the club and with his contract winding down it's no surprise to me that now is the time he's pushing for a move. Never heard any instances of poor behaviour or not being a good team player. At his best a top PL fullback, and an attacking threat.

Having said that, I've no problem with Pervis moving on for a healthy profit. He hasn't since hit the heights that he did that first season under RDZ, and often leaves great big gaps in our defence when he's off wandering. I also suspect it was the loss of Caicedo covering for him that exposed this. I think Kadioglu and Cuiabano/Barco would be more than adequate in his place.

Are you saying he hasn't been giving opponents a push with both hands when they get the better of him? Because he really has. Which risks giving a free kick away in a dangerous area. Which means he is a liability as he risks giving opponents a good chance of scoring. If you disagree with that you could try giving your reasons why rather than a 3 word statement.

If my granny had wheels she would be a bike.

Won’t get a boo from me assuming he doesn’t do anything silly before he leaves. Good servant but think we have outgrown each other for different reasons. Getting double the fee we paid is extremely good business.

Ferdi should be first choice next season and I had heard that Strasbourg were obliged to offer us a set fee for Barco which we can enforce but we don’t have to say yes to and he returns like a normal loan. Who knows but odd the club tweets a picture of him the other day.

Ferdi and Barco on rotation would do for me
Whether or not we want to give Barco a good squad place, If we can get out of the this "option to buy" we should and we will.

He has played well enough so that the valuation of the player has gone up. So either we keep him or we sell him, but we don't sell for the low fee reported in the original loan to buy deal if we can possibly help it

Reading this thread you’d think he was a liability last season. I think he struggled in the way FH wants to play, as did most of the defenders and also Bart

Remains a decent player imo

He often was and 2023/24 under FH. Contributing to the 7th worst defence in the PL last season. Caught 80 yards upfield on repeat or diving in the half way line allowing a winger a free run in on goal.

There's a strange narrative that we were bad defensively last season, when we only lost 9 games all season (11 including cups, one on penalties).
We had perhaps 5 really bad defensive performances all season.
We also had many individual errors leading to goals, but I don't think Pervis was responsible for many of them.

I am aware we conceded a large number of goals, but that was partly the way we set up to be an offensive minded team.
Pervis and Mitoma has been the best partnership for the last hand side, and Pervis always looks better when Mitoma plays.

Goals against number poor .... West Ham/Manure level of poor. Our wings especially when Velts didn't play always the Achilles heel.

Exactly this.

I like Pervis as a personality and he was great for one season but it's also fine to point out his weaknesses and injury or whatever, he has generally been poor for the past 2 seasons.

Great point about our defensive record too, our defensive numbers are really poor. It's about time this was highlighted more on here as if you ever criticise Dunk, JPVH, Lamptey, Pervis or any of the other favourite defenders then you get lampooned - they get defended to the hilt yet brilliant attackers who are more talented players and a lot harder for a club like us to sign, like Minteh and Joao Pedro, who have produced brilliant numbers for us last season and got the defence out of a hole time and again, get criticised. No way should a defender have been our POTS this but it's what we always do here.

The last two seasons have been our worst for goals conceded since we came up to the Premier league - the truth is, we're a poor team defensively with players who are not good enough for where we want to be anymore and we need to make changes there which it appears we're doing. That's why I was surprised Lamptey got a new contract, that so many think Dunk should still be a regular and some can't accept how poor Estupinan has been. We need upgrades at RB, LB and CB and it seems the club are actively trying to do something about that which is great.

I like Pervis and would be sad to see him go. But I don’t think he’s irreplaceable. If we can get Ferdi ready over the summer, it’ll be a like for like replacement given how much of the season he missed. Would be very happy with the reported fee

And if people find mention here about poor defending either taboo or nonsense, they will listen to FH who in mid December highlighted it, mentioning collective and individual mistakes giving rise to our high GA stats.
