I don't post on here much for fear of the JCL tag & I'm sure there are many more who feel like some kind of underclass due to lack of posts & keep quiet but if you can forgive my audacity can I voice an opinion? I read the posts with interest on here & many seem to degenerate in to a political rant. Is there not a time & a place for that? Pereferably not on a football forum! Should other fans read some of the extreme left wing views on here I fear it will only add to the "gay" tag as they aren't in keeping with the usual South of England stance.

To be honest a while back there were a few posters trying to push the BNP rhetoric quite badly but seems to have calmed down a bit now.

1) Why are you comparing left wing with gay?

2) What does this supposed "south of England stance" have to do with anything? The city of Brighton & Hove has a Green MP in its most central ward and the city council is run by the Green party. This is a left wing party. We voted them in. Ergo our "stance" is left wing.

3) If this forum were purely about footballing matters only it wouldn't be so busy. Furthermore in the off season all we'd have is endless threads on potential transfer targets, most of them bullshit.

4) Why are you worried about what other fans think? By your own admission you don't post on here much so why would views expressed on here reflect on you?

hmmm...
-bringing up NSC classes and suggesting dissenting opinions are forbidden
-starting a thread about a topic to criticise threads about the topic
-suggesting there is a clear and ubiquitous political view on a board with thousands of contributors
-suggesting a board who's owner is, I believe, an admitted right winger
-equating left wing with being gay.
-suggesting an entire region of a country is unanimous in any specific political ideal (particularly the region of the country with the first green mp - ironic given that the argument is that the area is left wing)

To say I'm suspicious of the motives of this thread would be accurate.

To be honest you would be hard pressed (although i am sure there will be) to find a cleaner looking, hard but fair, forum anywhere-some clubs forums are nowhere near to NSC on value and quality-

thanks to Bozza and the crew.

I find it very difficult to take this seriously. There is an awful lot of right wing discussion on this board, which I would say is NOT in keeping with the Albion's core demographic of working class Brightonians. If anything this board leans uncharacteristically to the right, perhaps skewed by the number of Brighton exiles.

At any rate, everyone's allowed their opinions and it's good to open up healthy debate on political matters with sensible, reasoned posters

Doesn't sound to me as if NSC is for you. Off you trot now.

No offence meant. I was merely trying to suggest we stick to footballing matters on a football forum. But as it has been mentioned perhaps there is a reason central Brighton votes Green which totally contradicts the way the rest of Sussex votes? I do have a problem with the gay tag that other fans throw at us. Same as non jewish Tottenham fans may be offended by them name thrown at them I guess.

But you still fail to mention the connection between the "gay tag" and left wing politics

Strongly disagree as there was a time not so long ago where there was serious racialism being posted by various people on this website

Some of the best debates have been the political ones. Remove those and we are left with a bunch of threads about glory seeking (in most cases they seem to be JCLs) posting shite about non existant transfers. Are we going to be subject to the same lowest common denominator comments when the season starts and there are more threads about matches. The op only joined in march. Perhaps he should trawl through some of the great debates, whether it be about Iraq war, banks, Ian Tomlinson etc etc and get himself an education. If you just want to football go buy yourself Match magazine and start collecting next seasons Matchattax!!!!!

NSC is a lively forum for all topics of discussion and hopefully will remain so for a very long time.

I don't know how u personally feel about free speech, but Brighton is a tolenrant, free speech kind of place. So for me this board just reflects that.

Free speech exists to protect controversial views. If you only believe in free speech for views that you agree with or consider to be acceptable, then you don't believe in free speech.

& Free speech is a positive tradition of this country and a fundemental foundation of liberty, so I think we should be proud that it is a characteristic of this board.

You are offended because other fans call you names? Maybe football culture is not for you. I think one of the best thing about this board is that there is discussion between people who may not talk otherwise. I thin it is interesting to hear what other people think about issues around the world. I have learnt a lot from people on here (not always in a good way)

I have seen it suggested that NSC should have a separate forum for non footballing matters.

I would also like to point out that when i first started using NSC regularly I had problems with the way it works and ideas on how to run a forum. I am please to say that i have accepted it for what it is and enjoy it for what it is, a vibrant and interesting place to talk about many issues.

I too don't understand the link between left wing and gay?
