Been learning some local phrases to assimilate with the locals.

quel est le chemin vers le JD Wetherspoons?

puis-je avoir une pinte de Ruddles, garçon?

Est-ce que c'est payé à la porte ?

avez-vous des badges à épingles ?
I’ll also wear a beret and stripy top
Whilst the club have done the right thing, I do think its a bit ott and will scare off sone fans, which is probs reflected in current ticket sakes. Sad, but likely a factor. Genuinely you can have the best times abroad at football and any sports, just have to be sensible and street wise. Newcastle fans showing colours and flags is absolutely not a problem, I think it is brilliant they are not being subtle and enjoying themselves, how it should be. I would hate to think that our fans are going to go to Europe and not have some fun. I’m getting a flag made up as we speak. If you want trouble, you’ll find it, simple as that. We don’t want that, we just want beer and laughter!
Speak for yourself. I just want rosé and shellfish.

If it's the video I posted earlier - they were on the arranged buses singing, not the metro.
I didn’t see what you posted, what was it?

Nor me. No idea why AEK fans aren’t using the usual away pubs and being encouraged to use the train. My point is that having taken the trouble to put in place special arrangements for AEK fans (presumably for a reason), there doesn’t appear to be anything preventing them from using the standard arrangements for away fans.
I don’t know if you have been to any European games before… but I can assure you - a vast percentage of away fans are part of Ultras groups (I know cos I’ve been with them) - and are quite different in make-up to Judith & Jeremy sharing a packet of Werthers’ around on the Seagull Travel coach…

I have been to European games. If AEK’s Ultras turn up in any sort of numbers do you honestly believe that they are going to make their way to the King and Queen and then stand in line for a coach to the Amex?

Oh for sure have some fun, fly some flags, but I will say SOME Newcastle fans have been very loud and proud.

From the 'Atmosphere' thread:

(Translated to English)

AEK FC informs that all our fans who have purchased tickets for the match against Brighton in England on Thursday (21/9) from the special platform of AEK FC, will receive their tickets electronically today (19/9).

All our fans who have registered their presence at the stadium through the Original 21 club in London, will receive their tickets from the club's representatives in London and Brighton.

We also urge our fans who will be at Brighton to pay close attention to the information below. Please note that the times that will be mentioned are self-evidently English hours.

The local authorities require all AEK fans who will be in the stadium to use coaches starting outside The King and Queen, 13-17 Marlborough Place, Brighton BN1 1UB. The coaches will transport AEK fans directly to the stadium.

This point is the meeting point for AEK fans who will go to the stadium. It will be open to AEK fans from 12 noon, while coaches will start transporting them to the stadium from 17.45. The King and Queen pub will serve food and drinks and will be exclusively open to AEK fans until they leave for the stadium. The police will be present there at all times.

The coaches will go to the stadium in multiple convoys, with a police escort. Fans must be at the point before 17.45 when their transfer will begin. The transfer to the stadium will take approximately 30 minutes.

AEK fans' tickets will be checked before boarding the coaches.

Attention: For serious safety reasons, AEK fans who hold tickets should not use alternative ways of getting to the stadium!

AEK fans should remain in their seats for at least 30 minutes after the end of the match for safety reasons. During this time they will normally have access to toilets, food and drinks from canteens that will be available for them throughout the time they remain in the stadium. AEK fans are kindly requested to be patient until permission is given to leave. Please note that in canteens payments are made only by card.

After their departure, the exact same procedure will be followed by which they will have previously come to the stadium and return to the original meeting point.

AEK fans who intend to carry banners to the stadium should be aware that it is mandatory to have a certificate that the banner is made of non-flammable material. Otherwise they can't put it on the pitch. Banners with political or racist content are also prohibited. Drums are also not allowed.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

This is so weird.

Talk about creating a problem. I was looking forward to actually meeting some AEK fans. Isn’t that the opportunity? To build some sort of bridge.

Buses for AEK fans directly from the King and Queens since it’s been shared on Twitter.

Oooh they're gonna chuck out the King and Queen Liverpool fans to make way for AEK Athens supporters? Could get naughty.

If it’s policed like on the continent - they won’t have much of a choice - I think most will be surprised at the number of police present on Thursday..

This is the Sussex Police we are talking about they have no experience dealing with a firm of proper Ultras. Look at the mess they got themselves into with that lot from up the road.

I was working in the Kings Road one afternoon when a large German firm marched down the road causing havoc, I’ve never witnessed anything like that going to football in this country. Everyone involved looked like a complete nutter trained for the role in some sort of boot camp 😁

That Köln game at Arsenal was something else as well. I was also in Barcelona when 30,000 Frankfurt fans took over the city and the Camp Nou for the evening :lolol:

That Köln day was quite something, I work in Kings Cross station, wasn’t quite prepared to go on Lunch and find what seemed like a million German Ultras outside.
