yeah but AEK are a far bigger team than Liverpool so only right the little club makes way
Acts like this can't be justified and it's a shame some of our fans are being put off travelling because of it
I expect Newcastle fans would have been given similar advice for their trip as we have. If we have fans who go and set up camp with flags, colours etc then they can expect trouble rather quickly. You could be a '58 year old scarfer' who wants a pint with everyone else but get caught up.
Best to follow advice, keep your wits about you and use common sense. If you do, there's every chance you come home without problems. Not guaranteed of course but I will be cautious who I am around and get an aisle seat on the bus transfer

They moved to The Lectern a couple of years ago. Just so you know the pub to avoid!

None of this can be a surprise to any regular football follower, can it?.... Marseille, Madrid, Rome, Istanbul, Paris, Milan ... they are a set of serial offending cities.. stabbings and general hostile treatment of visiting fans.... Uefa does very little to punish these clubs..... IF, However, those events are happening in British cities, Uefa would be bleating about the "English disease" and throwing bans and fines around like confetti.

I went to Inter Vs Napoli about 4 years ago... that train from the city is very intimidating, and the stadium residents in the Inter middle tier behind the goal, was simply awash with illegal vodka salesmen, drug dealers and fascist thugs.... we left 20 mins from the end.... we got frisked by paramilitary coppers on the way OUT... very relieved to get back to the relative safety of the city centre.

I can see incidents like this putting a lot of people off travelling abroad to see their teams play.
It's a sad state when we have already been given instructions by our own club on how to get to the ground safely, areas not to go into etc. for the Marseille game.
I just listened to the new podcast 'BHA podcast' where Norman Cook aka fat boy slim was talking about hosting a club night for both sets of fans for after the game against Ajax.
I know this is an Italian team as opposed too Dutch, but it just shows how opposite our views on away fans are, etc. We appear to be a very welcoming club (fans) I know there will always be a small demographic of "fans" that go out of their way to cause trouble, but I'd like to think that one of ours wouldn't randomly stab an opposition fan.

It looks like a reasonable plan to me. Let AEK fans spend the day in the greatest city in Britain, and then wander down to a bus pick up point in the centre of town. Have a beer at the K&Q if the queues are a bit long, and get bussed to stadium.
Hang around a bit and have a beer after the game, get bussed back into centre of town
Hope the Marseille away plan goes as well for the friends I have who are going (obviously with the exception of those who certainly won't be doing any of the nonsense our club is suggesting for Marseille)

Whilst the club have done the right thing, I do think its a bit ott and will scare off sone fans, which is probs reflected in current ticket sakes. Sad, but likely a factor. Genuinely you can have the best times abroad at football and any sports, just have to be sensible and street wise. Newcastle fans showing colours and flags is absolutely not a problem, I think it is brilliant they are not being subtle and enjoying themselves, how it should be. I would hate to think that our fans are going to go to Europe and not have some fun. I’m getting a flag made up as we speak. If you want trouble, you’ll find it, simple as that. We don’t want that, we just want beer and laughter!
