This thread was a good idea. NOBODY is going to win this debate. The old rule, Politics or Religion.

Because the Genesis would be disproved. Religion is based on a God and that God creating Man in his image. It also believes Man to be unique and alone in God's universe so ET turning up would destroy everything that a religion is based on. I know many people on this planet wish for and believe the proof of ET will be the best thing that could ever happen to Earth and Mankind in general and I am also of that belief.

What about Scientology?
Religion is not the problem. Mans interpretation of it is.
You are absolutely right of course. We never think about what we are saying or why we are saying it. We've been brainwashed, you see. We're like living zombies, just mindlessly walking into church each week for our next programming session.
As for thinking for ourselves? Right again, we just simply do exactly what we are told. Our brains were disconnected at birth.
Now what's your excuse?
PS If you actually want an answer to your first post, why don't you just talk to the guy about it?
Religion and I mean ALL religion is bad. It has created never ending wars and suffering. The best thing that could happen for this planet and the only thing to ultimately save it is if we found proof of extraterrestial life and all religion and their beliefs and teachings would be shot to pieces.

Science disproved religion decades ago. People hang on to it thinking " there must be more to it than this ", unfortunately there isn't.
So all these religious folks never really think about what they're saying, what it means, why they're saying it?
They just repeat it ad infinitum following instructions from their priest/imam?
Are religious people totally unable to think for themselves?

Dawkins and Darwinism are both very fashionable at the moment, but they cannot explain the origins of everything. The idea that the incomprehensibly perfect laws of life and physics happened by chance is in my opinion preposterous. Atheists are in the dark as much as anyone else regarding the origins of everything, so when they state that the theory of God is untrue when it is one of the strongest and most debated theories going strikes me as incredibly close-minded.

No, no, not at all. I want to attack all religions.
They are all examples of mass delusion.
Behind Uncle Spielberg's accusation that "religion is bad because it causes wars" lies an insidious bit of propaganda. It's only a short step from that assertion to one that says "the enemy have a religious agenda; they must, therefore, be WRONG; we must, therefore, do everything we can to destroy them".
The next step in that line of thinking is the one that says "The enemy don't deserve that oil. We should have it".
I think secularism is as DANGEROUS an ideology as religion.

Brainwashed. If all these religious nuts took a step back and thought about it with some logic then they would realise it is a total load of bollocks !!![]()
Says the man sitting in his comfortable western society abode which grew on the back of the real problem which has haunted the planet since day one, greed.
There's Nuns who have devoted their lives to their faith and to working in places like Africa with the poorest and most displaced humans on the planet.
So tell me who's bad, you who sit at your computer pontificating about others while doing f*** all yourself or those who through their faith are making a difference to their fellow human beings?
