Exiled from the South Country
Ringmer inn - ringmer

Not the only ones to go in Ringmer.

The Brewers Arms (where Crockendale Field houses now are)
The Railway (big house on corner of Laughton Road and Moor Lane)

and further afield I still mourn the loss of the Potters Arms in Dicker.

I think you'll find the Buxted Inn is still very much alive. May now be considered more of a restaurant & hotel rather than a pub but still open. It was built as a hotel just hasn’t been marketed as one for a long time.

It has been for a couple of years if not longer, where have you been?

yeah,i knew it had gone, but i live abroad now and i'm usually based around eastbourne when back in the UK

last time i was over for the watford game, had a nostagalic stroll down newhaven high st,white hart, ship & bridge all still there, but it still came as a bit of a shock to see the crown gone,a bit like the old shoreham road,a large part of your life stripped away for good

didn't get as far as the ark, presume it's still there, what about the ferryboat? what was it called before?

my old dear told me the sussex coaster in peacehaven is on the verge, used to be called the gay highlander!

the castle,mckellar,bells club?

also remember the buckle in seaford

Old Shoreham Road :o(
Dark star didnt own the Stand Up. They leased it off the former landlord, who put up the price of this lease which Dark Star decided they couldnt afford or wouldnt pay for. shame as they were doing really well there. Proper real ale pub. Hope it opens up again asap

It's worse than that, the freeholder, in seeing that Dark Star were doing so well, hiked the price of the
lease up by so much, that Dark Star would have made a loss!

There is a recession on incase you hadn't noticed!

Last I heard was that he was going to reopen the pub himself. I hope that no one goes in there if he
does - teach the bastard a lesson!

It was the Old England and The Spaniard that closed surely ? Add to those, The White Hart and The New Street Inn, both were great pubs.

My first real local was the North Star in Ditchling, which sadly closed many moons ago ( in the last century).

Burgess Hill seems to be losing pubs at an alarming rate at the moment.

The Sea House used to be such a busy pub. It is missed.

Do you mean the Middle St one?
Used to spend quite a bit of time there in my youth. It was our pre and post match, pub of choice. It got a bit run down before its demise, but even then was a great pub.
