I find this very hard to believe as per his interview today:

He also recalled that the scandal led to him being turned away by car insurers and restaurants.

The 27-year-old said: 'I remember at the time when there was allegations, I wanted to go to a restaurant and they were like "no you can't - we're not taking you".
'I was like "what do you mean?" And then it was "the allegations, we're not allowing you in or something like this. I was actually so confused. I was thinking "for starters, it's allegations and second of all you are a restaurant how can you not let someone in because of bad press?"

'I was just baffled, and my car insurance, they wouldn't insure me due to the whole scandal. And I was like "car insurance? They won't have me on their books?". It was baffling.

Seriously would a restaurant really turn him away because he's in breach of FA betting regulations? Maybe they did but I do find it very hard to believe? Likewise car insurance as well. He's waving the sympathy card a bit too much in my opinion.
I can possibly believe the car insurance bit actually.......junior works in football and the employment drop-down when he was getting insured wasn't clear - by ticking 'professional football' half the quotes disappeared and the prices left were multiplied many times.

It sounds like complete rubbish from Toney.

And insurance contracts are to be of the 'utmost good faith' so they may feel that he is untrustworthy so more of a risk.

Surely a professional footballer is of no risk and particularly one who probably has multiple cars to insure and high premiums and who I imagine would pay the lot up front rather than monthly direct debit.

Notts Forrest defender Harry Toffolo given a suspended 5 month sentence today for 375 bets. Basically if he doesn’t bet again in the next 18 months, he gets away with a fine equivalent to about 2 days pay !

Toney did 232 bets.

FA up to the usual consistency.

At a guess, I am assuming Toffolo didnt bet on games he was playing in and lie about it

The FA don’t issue the bans. It’s dealt with by an independent regulatory commission. I’ll wait until the FA publish the full statement before deciding if there are any inconsistencies, I’d imagine Ivan Toneys lawyers are doing the same.

Alan Pardew.
There have been rumours about Pardew for years going back to before his Newcastle days. I remember that long contract and was told he owed money to the Newcastle chairman at the time who owned a London Casino. No idea if it’s true but it made sense at the time. He is a recognised high roller in Marbella, allegedly.

It’s hardly an addiction given the number of bets over the time period. Works out a few bets a week. There’s a lot of normal folk that dabble in betting that bet more frequently than that without being addicted.

Just checked my spreadsheet.

I've placed over 3,500 bets over the last 3 years.
