Well simply add it to the information written on the statue then. That way we can keep all our history. You can not have a problem with erasing history by tearing them down AND have a problem with adding missing information from statues. Unless you are saying it is ok to erase the bits of history YOU are uncomfortable with?

Most people are going about their buisness not giving a hoot about statues then trained marxists turned up and all of a sudden it's an issue ,nothing better to do eh

After that there was no realistic likelihood of any German invasion (if they could even make it over the Channel under the bombardment of the Royal Navy and RAF) was nil. Zilch.

the world was a different place 70-80 years ago , different values , different motives , different outlooks. It's alarming how much it has changed in what is basically a lifetime.

Adding supplementary information legally to a statue when not undertaken using vandalism or criminal damage is completely different to what you have previously been supporting (criminal damage)
I still wont support anyone in this country who wants to tear down statues illegally via mob rule and who attempts to erase history, even though that in itself is a pointless exercise.
If you want to do those things move to the fascist Islamic State where you can practice what you preach, smash statues to your hearts content and try to erase references to the history of pre-islamic ancient cultures. You will fit in nicely.

The objectives of the Islamic state and The British Museum toward antiquities really are very different.

Correct the Taliban destroying the Bamiyan buddhas spring to mind on this. It is a duty set in Islamic scripture to destroy everything that represents other cultures and what can be called idols. This is why the Sphinx has no nose or goaty.

We have a Greek 75 metre long frieze in the British Museum that was once being used as target practice during the Ottoman Empire. Britain preserves ancient culture artifacts, Islam destroys them.
