Oh sod it. I've ordered one. Primarily as a replacement for the kindle, as it's backlit and the mrs complains if I'm reading with the light on cos she can't sleep.

This is awesome good solid hardware and workable software for a fair price. Those who want to spend bit more on better hardware and best software can buy a Windows 8 tablet/surface. Those wanting to pay for style and little substance can stick with their apples.

little substance ? well thats a debate comment for a start

Stuff.tv are lusting it as having 12 core gpu. That coupled with the quad core CPU wipes the floor with other popular tablets

odd as i cant recall anyone else noting multicore GPU. i cant say i can think of any purpose either, as the Tetra performce is supposed to be good and the bench marks are similar to the Transformer using the same chip.

my general feeling is its all a bit of "meh". so many products now, whats makes this better than another? they have to get the software eco system working or its just another gadget.

It doesn't wipe the floor with the most popular tablet by far. As you were though.

In fact this is in their conclusion...

"View the Google Nexus 7 as an iPad competitor, and it might seem lacking. But view it as an easily portable media device and it begins to make a little more sense, as long as you're prepared to shuffle around videos a little more regularly due to the glaring emission of that SD card slot"

What kind of emission is it? Hope there's a health warning!

If it's possible to remove all brand loyalty.

For someone who doesn't have any form of 'mobile devise', but quite likes the idea, of NSC anywhere!

Is £189 a good deal.

Would any hidden 'extras' need to be brought?

The Nexus is wifi only so wont get you NSC anywhere
You know when you're explaining t'internet to you Gran.
Well it's just the same now, without the shouting.

Surely WiFi means it's available?

FREE WiFi is rare when out and about.
