So to get anything to work anywhere, it needs 3G.

For 3G I'd need a monthly contract, with a provider (Orange, O2, et al)

FREE WiFi is rare when out and about.

That all depends on who you have your home broadband with, if you're on BT then WiFi is readily available in many places without having to pay extra.

You can't get a 3G Nexus 7, it's WiFi only.

So, to guarantee connectivity when away from home, you'd need to either tether it to your mobile (if you have one that enables it) or get a MiFi unit (to create your own personal on-the-go WiFi Hotspot).

Oh FFS, that's why I enjoy being a luddite.

Why does it have to be so complicated, my BB is with BT, now what?

Is that a dongle?

I take it, whatever it is it would be a monthly contract?

Is it international, not that I'm planning on going anywhere.

Thanks I'm edging nearer in my understanding, S L O W L Y.

I guess it's the ying and yang of NSC.

I answer the questions on the tour thread, then stick my bobble hat on and wander over here.

Still waiting on delivery on my unit.16gb models next week apparently.

Did you pre-order from Google directly? Their handling of the order process has been farcical with many people still waiting, whereas some people who ordered this time last week from Ebuyer had them last Friday.

Mine arrived today. Not had much of a chance to play with it much yet but first impressions are pretty good.
Will have to see what it's like at playing movies and games plus the all important battery life.

That's not the case at all, although I do play at that a bit.

The Nexus 7 is clearly a decent device at a decent price. It's no iPad beater, but it was never intended to be. It has the Kindle Fire keenly targeted and I'm sure Amazon won't be wasting any time improving that device as quickly as they can.

Similarly it will be interesting what price point Apple are able to hit with the much-rumoured 'iPad Mini' because if they can get anywhere near $199 for a 16gb device then Android tablets could continue to struggle to make much impact.

First impressions are that it's light and quick. has a lovely screen and Jellybean looks as good as IOS, if not better, but I'll need to use it in the real world for a few weeks to decide (and will probably leave comparison until IOS6).

FWIW, I'm neither an Apple or Android fanboii and I try to be unbiased.
