I thought the Spanish-speaking Nathan Jones was there to help communication between the manager and the players ???

Can't believe it took this long for Nathan Jones to be mentioned

Upson is certainly one of the most articulate talkers among recent players and he had international and Premier League experience, so if he had something to say then it's natural that the rest of the players would listen.

Ahh more Oscar bashing.
I'm not surprised if he let an experienced pro have a say, he also gave jones a lot of responsibility. Doesn't take away the fact he did a bloody good job in his time here and we are lot poorer without him.

Maybe Leicester signed him to do the same thing with their players, makes sense because he sits on the bench in the dugout and Pearson sits in the technical area with a laptop in front of him. :moo:. Maybe Upson was manager all along and Oscar was appointed as a stand in figure because Bloom was scared at the possible backlash from fans about the idea of a Player-Manager :moo:. Maybe Upson was the tactical genius that got us into the playoffs. :moo:.

There's three new conspiracies to discuss. :moo:.

Unless it's Upson itself who leaked it, in which case it's just as biased of course. Still an interesting tidbit though.

Edit: I very rarely write the word 'tidbit' but am always tempted to write 'titbit' instead, even though I know it's incorrect.

What's wrong with titbit? I was allways titbit when I were a lad back in the days when God's dog was a puppy. There was even a best selling magazine of that name

This is one of the more Google friendly covers, many of the others were a bit racy for those time, they had LADIES in BIKINIS

I think tidbit was an American import, possibly one of the very first instances of political correctness

Not listened to the latest but interesting. We haven't had a mention from memory this season, so strange thing to bring up. Can't be from Upson I imagine, as they were taking the piss last week because of his run out for the U21s

It was when they were doing a round up of the Championship. The arrival and debut goal of Darren Bent prompted the brief Brighton based chat, mainly from Luke Moore.

In short:
Bent to Brighton a good signing for both parties
Brighton have got into a cycle of losing key players and/or the manager every summer, and at some point that catches up with you.
Club is in a great position behind the scenes and fanbase is large and loyal; just needs to get it together on the pitch.

It was the first thing I thought of. What's the point of an assistant manager that, seemingly doesn't, er, assist?

So Upson was loud in the dressing room, translates to Jones does nothing.

NSC at its best

If the players were running the dressing room then Adam El-Abd would still be here. He's not, ergo the management team must have been exerting some sort of influence and the story about Upson isn't entirely true.

You say "over-trained to the point of injury". I say "under trained to the point that they can't manage to take a free kick or get in the 6 yard box for a cross."

It doesn't matter who was pulling the strings last season. They were doing an exponentially better job than the Finnish clown.

I wondered how long after I made my post you'd come running out. You were slower than I thought. Probably a busy day at work for you.

I was merely indicating that the tale being discussed was something I'd heard previously.
