Waltz with Bashir - really disappointed with this. ok the animation is interesting but the story just didn't involve me.

watched When Trumpets Fade again on dvd - way superior to your average gung ho war film. highly recommended.

Quantum of Solace

I had read average reviews for this and went last week not expecting anything great. The cinema was packed and as its taken £ 40 000 000 at the UK box office in a little over a week obviously lots of people are not put off.

In short, WTF are the critics on ?. This was a brash, fast paced, well acted film with plenty of spectacular set pieces from the very first frame to the end.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. In fact so much so I would say it is better than Casino Royle. I know this makes me in the minority to there's no change there.

Highly recommended

Max Payne - 5.0
Takes ages to get going and never really delivers, lived upto be so much more but its just lacking in so many areas. Abit like Doom in that respect...except that film was utter gash!

In Bruges

Excellent performance by Colin Farrell. Laugh out loud funny and dark at the same time in places and the love interest in it is MINT. Would watch again. Ralph Feinnes is good in it too.

Conan The Barbarion- Middling, decent if you want silly action with a lead who can't speak English yet. Kind of like Willow but with violence and bigger muscles

Good Luck Chuck

Woeful attempt at a gross-out humour Farrelly Brothers-style romcom about a bloke who has a hex put on him - every woman he SHAGS finds "true love" with the NEXT man she dates. Flimsy premise, and it gets about as good as it sounds. A couple of mildly chucklesome moments at best, but the only thing that really kept me watching was the chance of seeing Jessica Alba get her kit off.

She doesn't. So don't waste your time.

In Bruges

My cathcing up of recent releases starting last night. This film was a joy in the large part. I am not a great fan of Farrell but he won me over here with a superb and moving performance. Gleeson was perfect as his co hit man and Ralph Fiennes made a decent deranged hit man boss.

It had a dark comedic touch with the first 75 minutes having some superb laugh out loud moments. The pacing is slow but the scenery of Bruges shows what a beautiful city it is. The ending did not match the first 2/3rd of the film and became a little contrived to tie up the loose ends but overall highly recommended.

The ending was a little strange though I thought it made sense. The first phone conversation between Gleeson and Fiennes was my favourite bit.

Grandma's Boy - 8/10

Funny, stoner comedy from the Adam Sandler crew (Happy Madison productions, films he produces but is not in).

For people into gaming, aphex twin and funny.

The Dark Knight

I was looking foward to this as I did not get to see it at the cinema. It is rated 4th greatest film of all time of imdb with 9.1 and have taken nearly
$ 1 000 000 000 at the box office and is the 4th biggest grossing film of all time.

So expectations were very high and were only partially met. The story was decent enough without ever being really absorbing. Bale was ultra cool and is the best Batman by far of that there is no doubt but Ledger stole the accolades with a truely superb performance as the Joker. You can bet he will be nominated for an Oscar in February and its not just down to sentimentality I would nomintate him for an oscar just based on the performance which he NAILED. What a terrible loss of talent.

The set pieces when the got going were excellent and superbly staged but frankly not enough of them. It was a bit too wordy and took an age to get going with the clock reading 1 h 20 m when some action started ( after the action packed start ).

Nolan is the greatest director plying his trade at the moment ( until Spielberg releases Lincoln anyway ) and it was good , just not the masterpiece I had heard about.

Sounds like your one of those tipical brain dead fast action, ridiculous stunts, gun ho flim lover US.Sod a decent storyline or a bit of realism,i want massive explosions and pistols that never need reloading type of film.
You even amit that yourself. You say Quantum of Solace was fast action from the off and then criticize Dark Knight by saying it took ages to warm up.
Hey i bet you loved the old Rambo films and wanted to be like him.

Oh hark at her. Having a bad day ?. This post sums up NSC nowadays. Unwarranted and personal abuse for having an opinion.

You make a lot of assumptions. I have said it was a good film but thought it was slow in places. Its not Shakespeare is it , its an action hero. Or maybe Batman is now meant to be a Hamlet type charachter. Batman is a cmic book action hero. Or did I dream that ?.

I suppose you speak to people like that in the pub then ?. Why can't you just debate the film without insults and assumptions ?.
