I'm not that old, it has to be Gary Nelson, he never seemed to give the ball away cheaply, and scored a few too !

Kit Napier, Dave Turner, Sully, Sir Norman Gall, John Templeman and a really fast winger called Dave Armstrong who could run really fast but didn't do a lot else!!

Whilst I'm happy to see votes for Ian Mellor & Danny Wilson, there can be only one -

Dave Armstrong was selected to train with the G.B. olympic sprinting team for the 68 mexico olympics but he turned them down. You are right tho, the fastest we ever had but usually forgot he had to take the ball with him.

Or hoofed the ball into the stand. Or ran to the byline...and then ran over it.

Great to watch running, but limited in skill.

Vinyl Richie plays centre back at the moment, but is more naturally suited to the right back position.

The lad playing Centre Back alongside IC that night had brown centre-parted floppy hair and looked like he could possibly have been in a early-90s Indie band from Manchester. Does that sound about right?

Sully for me.

Whilst I didn't support United, As a kid I also fortunate to see Best, Law and Charlton win 5 - 3 at Palace.

I can't recall who against, but does anyone remember Tiger Towner scoring a blinder from well outside the pen area, into the N. Stand ? It was a rising shot that stretched the net, no-one expected it at all - especially from TTT, and especially from there! It looked like the forward line was tring to lose their markers and get into space, and he just welted it.
We went ballistic in the South Stand, and for some reason it influenced me to start going to the N.Stand .
