Ian Chapman.

Unfortunately, I had a rather disappointing experience of Ian Chapman recently.

I play for Littlehampton Reserves and went along to watch our first team against Whitehawk (really nice bunch as you would expect!), who Chappers player manages. He spent most of the 90 minutes kicking lumps out of our players, starting on the ref, linesman, fans and anyone who even dared to look at him.

That was when he broke off from endlessly berating his own keeper.

To see my boyhood hero picking fights with friends of mine was utterly soul destroying. I'm just glad I wasn't called into the first team that week, otherwise I could have been beaten up by my boyhood idol.

He's pissed off with the side at the moment, in a weird way he's trying to make them fight more. They have been losing it a bit recently.

You would probably have seen the footballing delight that is Vinyl Richie playing alongside him.

for me it was gazza and wrighty in the 90's but albion hero has to be bobby z. i started my season ticket first promotion year and he was unbelievable as we all know, it still hurts when he plays for tottenham and celebrates when(hardly ever) they score a goal.

CTS - What position does Vinyl Richie play in? I understand that I probably didn't see the best side of the man Chappers, and a lot of people can act like knobs on a football field. Danny Cullip isn't all sweetness and light but I suppose we still love him.

Vinyl Richie plays centre back at the moment, but is more naturally suited to the right back position.

Got to be Alex Dawson. If the ball was more than 4 inches off the ground he would always prefer to header it rather han use his feet.Made Andy Gray or Joe Jordan look like a wuss.Hence the features that made him look like a henchman from ``The Mob``.Played in the 64 cup final for Preston and I think he scored if my memory serves me right. Was on Man utds books for a few years as well.He was my hero when I was 9 and 10 but not many opposings goalkeepers I would think considering the thumpings he gave them..................................... Sammy Morgan must have been a keen student a few years later.

Steve Penney. The roar from the crowd when he got the ball & a yard of space, exciting stuff!
Doug "the thug" Rougvie. I remember a pre-season friendly against Seaford. You could hear every word on the pitch. The Albion right back got caught out of position. Doug shouts at him "if you do that again I'll f*cking kill you!"
There was no arguing with the Scot Skipper. :lolol:

Pat Jennings, so good he won Player of the Season the year Tottenham got relegated from the top flight.

Peter Ward, you had to have seen him to know what an exciting player he was. The only Brighton player that I have known to make the whole ground buzz when he ran at defenders.

I would like to have nominated Mark Lawrenson, as he is probably the best player to have worn the stripes. I can't because he is a twat.

Dominique Rochetau.because of the hair.someone must remember????

The whole French side of that era was awesome. Surely one of the best sides never to win a World Cup (up there with the Dutch of the '70s). Six, Tigana, Rochteau, Batiston, Giresse and of course Platini.

I think my fave World player was probably Zico, although you only ever got to see him play in the World Cups really. Rochteau or Platini otherwise.

My favourite ever Albion player is definitely Terry Connor, closely followed by Steve Penney and Garry Nelson.

Anyone remember Connor's overhead kick against Swansea in the FA Cup? Pure class.

And of course his majestic diving header at Norwich. erm, at the wrong end. :dunce: :lolol:
