It makes Croydon look like a paradise
Bit harsh. Whereas LA has swimming pools, Croydon has septic tanks. If you're lucky.

Some years ago, instead of taking the freeway I mistakenly drove along Manchester Avenue, LA from Anaheim towards the coasts.
One moment driving past luxury homes, the next moment locking all the doors whilst at traffic lights with the lovely views of gangs of guys leant over cars that are up on bricks etc. Bit scary I must say!

Given the talk of trump trying to avoid mid terms due to violence and insurrection etc - at what point do fifa start looking for a host for the World Cup? Surely we can’t have a World Cup in a country at war with itself?
To achieve that would require Infantino to stand up straight, pull his trousers up and distance himself from Trump. Ain't gonna happen.

I made a joke about burning down LA would make it better

I am not sure I am feeding into any narratives, not sure I even mentioned Trump/Riots

LA is a hell hole. having been there 3 weeks ago, I can confirm it has not changed

Trump has said much the same about all Sanctuary Cities in the US not just LA - his narrative that they are ‘shitholes’ ‘overrun by undocumented immigrants who are all criminals’.

Heck, he’s said much the same about Haiti, African Countries, and Islamic communities in Paris and London - except he used “shithole Country” and ”no go areas” instead of “hellhole”.

Before he was elected, he promised to end the Sanctuary City status of cities in the US (which limits the State’s cooperation with ICE and other Federal agencies) because they directly interfere with his anti-immigration agenda.

Trump is targeting LA because it recently affirmed its opposition to mass deportations. The precursor to these ICE round ups was Trump threatening to withdraw Federal funds from the State and lock up any State officials who got in the way.

That is absolutely insane
Kennedy's face reflects years of steroids, coke and more recently wegovy.

I once posted a clip of a head exploding in the movie Scanners.
I'll just let you use your imaginations.
Hopefully soon...

Trump reveals his 'political weakness' as big move in LA 'backfires': analysis

Trump has revealed his own weakness, according to political commentator Greg Sargent. In his latest column for the New Republic, the columnist railed against Trump’s firestorm of Truth Social posts and comments against California Governor Gavin Newsom, saying they have “backfired.”

“With President Donald Trump sending more troops into Los Angeles amid protests there, a remarkable image has gone viral on social media,” Sargent said. “It shows members of the National Guard crowded into a sterile-looking office, sleeping on a hard floor, in evident discomfort, all dressed in full military gear.”

Sargent, who hosts The Daily Blast podcast, believes not only shows the “awful planning” Trump had by dispatching of troops but also, “It also captures the deeper absurdity of this entire operation: These members of the military were supposedly needed to quell an urgent emergency, but as it has turned out, they were simply not needed for this purpose at all.”

Errrrrr......

That wikipedia table is absolutely NOT showing what you think it is showing

Take a closer look - it is a listing in alphabetical order (by state and then city).

As a resident of Chandler, AZ, I can assure you it doesn't have the third highest crime rate in the country.:lol::lol::lol:
Is it this it needs ordering by? Does show a slightly (!) different story...

Well, if you will drive around Littlehampton (although I think you mistyped Wick as Anaheim)

Really desperately bleak scenes in Los Angeles and elsewhere. A militia of government backed quasi-soldiers rounding up immigrants for deportation, supported by the army. It’s haunting. After the Holocaust we said never again. This is literally happening right now on the world stage for everyone to see. Then we have Israel committing unspeakable atrocities in Gaza. And that’s without even going into Russian aggression and the threat to wider Europe.

What a f***ing shitshow the world is.

Really? Would you ask that the World Cup be removed from the U.K. because there was a violent act committed in Liverpool where many people were hurt?

It's the head of the country who is invoking emergency powers and making out that the country is in such foment that the National Guard and the Marines are needed. If it really is as bad as he portrays, then maybe....

He can't have any it both ways!

And, as I understand it, some members of the support teams for certain countries won't be allowed to enter the USA. Reason enough to tell Trump to do one but FIFA will roll over and just focus on the money as usual.
