I lived in St Louis for a bit, which is the worst of the worst and I did not feel unsafe at all when compared to LA/SFO

The riots in LA have been limited to 4 or 5 blocks downtown - the rough size of the Toxteth and Brixton riots in the 80s.

LA is a sprawling City of 500 square miles with some of the richest neighbourhoods in the US. Home to tech, entertainment and expensive real estate LA is constantly touted as one of the richest cities in the world.

Trump has been blowing this all up out proportion to make a political point by bringing in the National Guard and Marines it’s all performative - he wants the narrative to be LA is out of control and authorities have been overrun by rioting immigrants to justify his wide-sweeping immigrant bans..

Don’t feed into his narratives.

But why has he had the invite? Traditionally and historically you only get one. I know Starmer has been sucking up to Trump but the State visit invite is issued by the King. He could make a huge statement, the bigliest, bestliest statement the world has ever seen by withdrawing the invite on behalf of his people.
