The upcoming World Cup and Olympics feels like 1936. When a lot of the athletes were not welcome there and the leader will be upset if his nation doesn't win everything. ( he will claim the results are rigged otherwise)
Might I suggest looking at the 1934 world cup in Mussolini's Italy, both world cups in countries run by buffoons

Really? Would you ask that the World Cup be removed from the U.K. because there was a violent act committed in Liverpool where many people were hurt?
I don’t think you are quite following. There is talk of Trump planning to avoid the midterms by declaring an insurrection so he can stop elections as it is not safe to hold them. Martial law, military on the streets etc.

That is a little different to an isolated incident that is nothing to do with the government.

So US can't have elections under martial law but according to Putin Ukraine can, even though they are actually at war. Didn't Trump suggest it could happen?

Of course he did. Just like he said peaceful protest is fine. Which he doesn’t mean. Violent protest is not okay. Unless of course it is MAGA mob invading the capitol and then they are patriots who get a pardon.

Slowly people will realise what he is. Mental some defend him really.

With all of this stuff going on over there, I have to say, I'm REALLY looking forward to a long-awaited trip to New York with the Bobkin Jnrs at the end of the month...

According to the Orange one, some teams won’t be allowed entry.

The team have qualified so the athletes have an exception. I guess even FIFA would draw the line at a host nation banning qualified teams. The US is also hosting the 2028 Olympics so the exceptions are also built in with this in mind.
Plenty of time for Trump to change his mind on this.

As for the recent Cricket World Cup, wherein Pakistan played all of its matches in Saudi, rather than the main host country India, it can be arranged for Iran to play its matches in Mexico/Canada. It's unlikely they'll Palace their way to a US-hosted Final...

Especially if FIFA organise a South Korea vs Italy level of fit up to ensure it.

Really desperately bleak scenes in Los Angeles and elsewhere. A militia of government backed quasi-soldiers rounding up immigrants for deportation, supported by the army. It’s haunting. After the Holocaust we said never again. This is literally happening right now on the world stage for everyone to see. Then we have Israel committing unspeakable atrocities in Gaza. And that’s without even going into Russian aggression and the threat to wider Europe.

What a f***ing shitshow the world is.
Absolutely spot on. In my lifetime whatever was going on internally in the US, they have always mainly been on the right side internationally and diplomatically. Not now, all bets are off and it's f*cking terrifying. All down to one man and his sh!tty entourage of bigoted clowns.

I think the upcoming World Club Cup nonsense is the least needed most worthless sporting event in the history of sporting events. But it could serve a purpose as a test bed for the forthcoming proper sporting events being held in yhe US. Surely if things go as badly as I think they might, governments will take appropriate action removing their countries from participation, bypassing corrupt sporting administrators.
