Forgetting the Muslim bit for a second as no doubt people are going to get wound up by it, if 4 girls attacked your girlfriend and you were there at the time, how far would you go to defend her? Would you just try and block / pull them off her, or would you actually throw punches?

Because personally I would have no issue with hitting women in this situation, I'd beat the shit out of them. Am I alone in that?

Witness protection it is not, as she was the one that committed the crime, but it certainly makes sense to me that she should be remanded for her own safety, rather that post 24hr protection. To be honest I’m incredulous at some of the replies to this, It was a racist attack, what part of “ kill the white slag “ isn’t racist ? Why were they not charged with racially aggravated assault , is anyone SERIOUSLY suggesting they wouldn’t have been had the girl been muslim and the five assailants white ? As for the accusations that the boyfriend originally racially abused them, well to quote Mandy Rice- Davies “ they would say that wouldn’t they “ , would you give the same credence to this had the situation been reversed ? I somehow just can’t imagine you attempting to mitigate the incident by espousing innuendo about one of a group of five white girls viciously attacking a muslim because one of them claimed she was called a white bitch.

All the more reason to detain her. I don't know enough about the legal system and whether it is criminal to pass on her address.

The newspapers say "Emma West of..." - can't remember the name of her road.

I'm not completely against vigilantes, but I think in this particular incident, it was better for all concerned for her to be taken out of the spotlight.

I don't think they did, but sensible to judge each case by case. Their case was entirely different and comes under different law acts.

Probation will interview the offenders and write a report, trying to provide a balanced picture of the offender and the offence.
Probation will often offer a number of possible disposals such as unpaid work, curfew etc.
The sentencer(s), having heard a case summary and read the reports will then have to decide if the offence crosses the custody threshold. If it does, is it possible to suspend the sentence or is immediate custody the only option.
To suggest that "they only got off because they are Muslims" is doing a disservice to the intelligence and commitment of the judiciary.
Mind you, it's in the Daily Mail, which is only really suitable for wiping my arse on.

Did you fall asleep in 1978 and have only just woken up ? you really havent got a clue about discrimination and official policy towards blacks and asians in this country, are ALLpoorest and most underfunded suburbs filled with blacks and asians ?
