I don't understand why it was a dead rubber for us. I know it is for City but not us.

Winning a game is a big deal for us. This season City have won 26 PL games. Before Tuesday we won 26 games since the beginning of the 2018/19 season. So any win matters.

And with every place meaning more income every point matters, even when relegation is decided.

And winning this one was big too. We scored 3 goals which we don't often do, won from 2-0 down, in front of a crowd at home, against the Champions who are playing in the CL final next week.

To fans all results matter. This one certainly seems to have mattered to some City fans!

Just been on City fans’ Blue Moon forum. One of the threads which runs to 18 pages is titled “How many of our fans become ‘entitled’”.

So I read the responses, which on the whole, are much more considered than their posts on the match day thread. It still amazes me to think of the vitriol that they spewed out at us when their main rivals are “the rags and the dippers” (Man Utd and Liverpool).
The common factor in their comments is not entitlement but it is that they EXPECT to win every game as they reckon to have the best team (possibly) and the most expensive team (definitely) in the world. Most of us would call that entitlement.

Three days on from the furore little ol’ Brighton may have done them a big favour. As in, brought them down to earth with a big bump, burst their self important balloon of arrogance, made them realise that just turning up does not win matches. It could just be that our wonderful win on Tuesday, an inconsequential dead rubber as some put it, may have instilled some humility in to the proceedings both for the City players and definitely their fans. Time will tell.

Ironic that you should refer to City fans as ‘entitled tossers’ (how many have you actually met?) and then proceed to childishly whine on about how you booed the guard of honour, want them kicked out of football and decisions against Brighton.

When in fact, you wouldn’t be seeing your team play ‘good football’ these days, had it not been for Fraudiola /City changing the way the game (football) is played.

City aren’t ‘dirty’, they don’t cheat, they allow other teams to play, they’re not arrogant (nor are the fans), they’re humble in victory and most of the time gracious in defeat. It’s jealousy that spurs this nonsense you’re peddling.
As for the Petroclub crap - are you seriously saying you personally don’t use the stuff? If your going to be so self righteous, you need to take a good look at your own owners background and the fact that I’ve heard rumours today of an FA investigation into betting irregularities associated with the officiating of the game. If you ask a Lincoln City fan -they’d be jealous Brighton at the moment because you’ve got more money - and you’re not the least bit concerned how your owner came by it - ARE YOU?

I did see the handball by City player, and we called it as a penalty - Atwell and Moss didn’t, they were as wrong about that as most of the decisions they made that evening, and mere incompetence doesn’t cover it IMO- and that’s a problem for ALL supporters.

The Moss/Atwell combo has been mired in controversy before and Atwell was removed from officiating premier league games for X9 years for exactly this stuff.

I previously enjoyed my time visiting your club, and entertaining your away fans at our place - but prats like you and others in this thread have completely changed the way we think of your club. I think you’ll notice that next season.
As it happens, your manager has already issued a public apology to MCFC staff for the behavior of the club that night........

I have looked briefly at their forum, and it does show a sense of entitlement from a vociferous minority (typical of a small number of the big 6 breakaway clubs' fans).

Seems to me some posters implicitly expected Albion to facilitate a win against Chelsea in the European Cup Final by going easy on them.

We didn't and they are 'pissed and disappointed' at out club with the usual outpouring of dire predictions and wishes for us to be relegated next season.

Clearly some are satisfied that their club is too rich to fail. Ever. In the long run they may be correct to assume that.

In the meantime it is refreshing we still have some level of competition left in the Premier League. More of the same next season please.

Anyone who has browsed through a small fraction of the 1000+ posts on Blue Moon's post match thread would be under no illusion as to what changed your fans mind about Brighton. It was losing to us. Be honest enough to admit it. You all liked the idea of Brighton being a supermarket own brand version of what Guardiola does at City. You liked the opportunity to pat us on the head and congratulate us for playing the game in the right way, all the time we still lost to you. Potter and Hughton have both said that to win against the top teams our side has to be at the top of our game, to catch them on a day when they are not and to enjoy a bit of luck. That is what happened on Tuesday. Our lot had the crowd behind them and were up for it, half of your lot were thinking about the Champions League. A couple of close calls went our way. That is all. Referees were not incompetent or corrupt. Nobody kicked anybody off the park. Nobody showed anyone any disrespect. It was a hard fought game of football with some excellent goals from both sides and for once your team was on the wrong side of the scoreline. The meltdown it has caused amongst the fans on your forum is truly astounding.

Have a bit of perspective. We knocked you out of the league cup when we were a third tier side in the week that you became the richest club in the world. We stuffed you 4-1 at the Goldstone in the top division in my first ever game at the Goldstone in 1979. Both mattered more and were worse defeats. Neither result caused this type of tin foil hat lunacy. Your team has been down to the third tier, done the cold Februarys at Mansfield, won friends and respect and come all the way back up. You got lucky with new owners and have built one of the best teams in the world. So you lost a dead rubber against someone in the bottom half: after you'd won the league for the third time in four years. Swallow it. The rest of us have to. Have the humility to accept that despite your massive superiority, the fact that this can occasionally happen is part of what makes football the best sport in the world. The reaction of your fans has been embarrassingly laughable and coming on here with a patronising lecture at some of our lot because they have spoken this truth in a partisan way is a ridiculous exhibition of hubris on your part. You might believe Man City to be the aristocrats of football with the right to lecture the proles about civility and respect to our betters. To us you are just another opponent who we think about no more than twice a year. We care just as little about your cries of shame as you all did about our club before we had the temerity to actually beat you.

It was a game of football. You lost. Get over it. Move on. We all did when you stuffed us 4-1 and 5-0 on your last two visits.

This was so good it deserved another quote post. Well said.

Genuinely, the game didn’t matter to us - everyone loses games. Not being injured was the primary goal.
It says more that some here are spending soooo much time on the City forums, suggesting doubt. X10 men for x80 mins away from home and against dubious officiating ................awaiting the investigation into the betting irregularities now being investigated into Bloom and Atwell in Brighton’s last five games. Let’s see how cocky you are then🤔

If that were remotely close to the truth, then why did you play (besides KdB) a full strength side? Let's be honest - you decided it would be ideal to give your CL Final line up a work out, to keep them sharp for the final, against an easy opposition.

Does one of the moderators want to pass this clown’s details on to Tony Bloom’s lawyer?

You're an absolute nob. :lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Your "fans" are more angry at an inconsequential defeat to little old Brighton than you were at Millwall when they smashed up Maine Road in a division three league game. It is proper funny. :lolol:

I’d be really careful what insinuations you make about our owner on this board.

Hoping to see you banned very shortly, you are clearly a bitter old man who expected us to roll over and are having a hissy fit because we didn’t. Making things up about club apologies and suggesting our owner is a crook.

Ironic when you consider the actions of the country who owns your club, don’t you think?

From a personal point of view I’d be quite happy to see you and the other clubs involved feck off to a European Super League.

Cocky? There is absolutely no suggestion of anything untoward having happened by anyone other than disgruntled Man City fans.

It is just a game of football, and yes it WAS more important to the Albion than your mob - we are still playing for position and prize money don't forget.

I've read a bit of the Blue Moon stuff, plus some of the comments on the BBC website. It's hilarious. To think that so many Man City fans could get so upset about losing to Brighton! In a game that apparently didn't even matter to them!! I'll be mildly amused if they lose the CL final to Chelsea - it will be great fun going back on Blue Moon and reading all the "Pep out" comments that are bound to flood in. Long may it continue :)

If we ever get to the heights or even near the likes of City. Please please remember where we’ve come from, and not act like a bunch of *****.

You know what, I very much doubt we will.

Don't be daft, they'll only lose to Chelsea if the referee has been passed a nicely filled brown paper envelope.

Stop digging. You are looking more and more stupid.

The most telling thing in all of this for me is the expressed outrage that somehow Brighton - the team, the manager, the fans - should have cared about Citeh's upcoming champions league match and been more careful not to tackle the little darlings in case they got hurt. How arrogant is that?

Like anyone cares about the Fossil Fuel Derby apart from the fans of the gas and oil funded - superleague supporting - global brands.

I was there. Live. And it wasn't a particularly physical match. (For once) we got the rub of the green on a couple of decisions that clould have gone either way.

We won.

That's it. That's football.

It was a great night for us in the stadium - with the win just being a small part of what made it great.

Pep was classless in his reaction, which does suprise me. Citeh supporters have been classless in their reaction. Which doesn't.

The meltdown on social media from City fans is hilarious and making the victory even sweeter. Conspiracy theories around betting and corrupt officials for a match they didn't care about and meant nothing to them. I don't like Chelsea but I'm starting to hope they turn City over in the CL final as the fallout from that will be biblical if us beating them is anything to go by.
