The vast majority of intelligentsia are warning against Brexit, but people want to give the establishment a bloody nose. Forget the consequences of the pain we'll all feel - we'll have been able to give the politicians a hiding. Unfortunately, as some have said, it won't be the rich that truly have to live with the consequences.

Bit arrogant (but typical of the remain campaign) to claim remain = what the intelligentsia want. There are many intelligent people who want to leave the whole putrid mess of the EU, you know.

They don't need to as we get all those skills from migrants, left to ourselves we can't be arsed with the hard courses.

Sweeping statement, i'll let my sons girlfriend know that when she gets her degree.....in a hard course......and two of his mates, i daresay a barrister is easy eh.

It's not an arrogant statement. If 90% of intelligent economists are warning against leaving, then given the vote, they will vote against leaving. We can't deny that they are experts in their field and therefore more intelligent than you and I when it comes to economics.

Unfortunately, similarly to climate change, someone will always be able to find someone that is an economist that disagrees. However, when the vast majority are saying remain, it makes sense to listen to that opinion. That isn't arrogance.

The intelligentsia (AKA Gruaniad Readers) have done very well out of the EU as they got their extension done SO cheaply by the Polish Builders and their new Lithuanian Nanny is incredibly reasonable considering she has an MSc...

What sort of economists? eclectic Keynsian,, neo classical, Austrian?

government economists, banking private sector? It is an easy sector to manipulate the numbers. Climate scientists work with the same data and models generally, this is less true of economists.

When I see Stephen Kinnock on TV this morning lecturing me I want to throw up, telling me mass immigration is good for me. So when my consultants appointment is cancelled yet again due to shortages and I can't get to see my GP for 2 weeks I'll think that is ok because mass immigration is so good for us

Ive been taking my old man to the GP surgery for a number of years regularly,2 or 3 times a week.
Over the years I have noticed a growing number of immigrants EU and non EU,but mostly EU using the surgery. Its grown now to about 50% sometimes 2/3rds of those waiting.
At christmas the surgery closed its doors to any new intakes. OK for my old man but any new, local to the area are going to be inconvenienced.
So when I hear people telling me there are no pressures and immigrants are young and don’t get sick I have to wonder if they are living on the same planet as me.

But that's a sweeping generalisation isn't it? Are you honestly telling me that most economists whether financial, industrial, micro, macro, no matter what their field, aren't warning against leaving?

You do accept that the majority are clearly counseling against?

I'm going from memory but I believe Jacob Rees-Mogg, a very determined and often entertaining Brexiter, was one of the signatories to the Tyrie report that singled out the Leave side's £350m a week claim as being just about the worst example of inaccurate spin in this whole referendum campaign, worse even than Osborne's £4300 stuff (which I didn't much like either).

yes
very intelligent bloke, doesnt go in for spin and crap, more likely to hear the truth from him than the twerps doing the rounds at the time.
so when he tells us we wont suddenly be losing all these rights if there is a brexit its safe to say he is correct and its just scaremongering.

Are you sure your consultant's appointment wasn't cancelled because of our f$ckwit Health Secretary?

No I dont. The only data Ive seen has been spun. Where it says most say GDP growth would be lower in the first 5 years. Now I agree that may well be true but I am still in favour of leaving because longterm and medium term prospects are better.

The devil is in the detail.

Well if they don't go, then we haven't solved the immigration problem. Obviously.

you think solving the immigration problem is about kicking people out?
Its not.its not about deporting people already here at all
Its about trying to manage the amount coming in year after year after year, something we cant fully manage if we are in the EU.people already here are not going to be sent home, managing the numbers gives us a fighting chance of bringing our infrastructure up to scratch and not forever playing catch up.

i still cant believe so many people are still uneducated about this

Are modern day students taught how to be anarchists?as they're so cringeworthy with little knowledge of the real world...seems they study the past and think they know everything.

The continuous shite pedalled by consecutive governments (labour the worst) within our school curriculum contents (aided and abetted by EU propaganda) for the last 18yrs. That turns younger peoples heads to mush. Great at their specialist subjects (perfect for business) crap at anything else.
