Trouble is , that was then and this is now. According to the BBC sport website he's scored the stunning number of ..... two goals this season ... in Div 2 ......

Never fails to amaze me how optimistic some people on here are with their expectations of who we might sign.

DJ Campbell? He's just knocked a Premiership side out of the FA Cup, is Brentford's top scorer, is playing in a team vying for promotion.

Consider
(a) why would he want to jack that in for a team with a smaller stadium than his current club, playing at the bottom of the Championship
(b) Brentford wouldn't even consider selling him for the sort of miniscule fee we could afford and
(c) Even if (a) and (b) were, by some miracle, both true, it would still rely on no other team having noticed Campbell's progress and being interested, as let's be honest, if you're a player and the money's right, you're going to sign for just about every other Championship team before you sign for the Albion. Except, just possibly, Crewe, and even they've got a miles better ground than us.

It might be sad, it might be painful, but unfortunately until we get ourselves a stadium, it is a fact of life, no matter how blue and white tinted your spectacles are.

someone like matt derbyshire at blackburn. dont know how good he is, but he did go on loan to plymouth wondering if he liked being on the south coast. then again that report does say league 1 experiance not championship.
he never scored once for plymouth and from what i hear was hardly impressive
it amazes me how people think when are gonna be able to get players like mcleod ,dj campbell ,eastwood ,boyd ect who will all command fees of near if not more than a million what planet ae some of you on:eek:

Most likely from a Scot Div 3 side or Champion ship reserves. Al should be revealed in the next few hours. No mention of MMs other targets a full back or midfielder.

Is that why MM was allegedly in Scotland and DW at Woking 2 strikers. One from Scotland AND Justin Richards.

Possibly Paul Watson to come back or even Ian Selley = full back and midfielder. No can't be.

More than a million squid?!? Maybe as a job lot!! If Fallon was only 350k, Knight 125K there is no way they will be near or over a million!!

Although I don't think we are capable of signing any of them!!

MK Dons turned down over £1m from Wolves for McCleud

Southend valued Eastwood at £800k earlier in the season.

Hartlepool allegedly refused £700k for Boydend of last season.

Brentford dont need the money so DJ Campbell has no price or value unless a stupid amount.

It isa question of the right place at the right time ans swansea hyave done their business in both Knight and Fallon knowing their respective positions at their clubs. Both near end of contract so club accept what they can get.

It's looking increasingly likely to be a case of as you were for Mark McGhee and Albion as they prepare to tackle Burnley at Withdean tomorrow evening (kick-off 7.45pm) - although the Albion boss does hope for some transfer activity in the next 36 hours.

McGhee remains confident of adding at least one new face before the deadline for permanent transfers expires at midnight tomorrow - but new signings had to be registered by 12 noon today in order to be eligible for tomorrow evening's matches.

The only option for a new face is a loan signing - they are eligible to play provided they are signed at least three hours before kick-off. The emergency loan system is another option for McGhee after the window closes, as a three-month spell would now run past the season's end.

Looks like a loan with a view to permanent. That may prove ok as we are short of money to buy somebody. That is for people that didnt know.
