The BULLET ANT

bulletant2.jpg

"It's a full inch long, it lives in trees and thus can and will fall on you to scare you away from its hive--the one you didn't know was there, because it's in a f***ing tree. Before it does this, it shrieks at you. This ant, you see, can shriek.

It's called a Bullet Ant because its 'unusually severe' sting feels like getting shot. On the Schmidt Sting Index, Bullet Ants rate as the number one most try-not-to-shit-out-your-spine painful in the entirety of the Kingdom Arthropoda."

Damn straight. Thats what makes them so terrifying.
They're not just instinctively protecting themselves. They're not even hunting. Once they see a female, they actually become PSYCHOTIC, and will basically attack and kill everything that moves, including the female. And they keep on going till they're ALL DEAD.

Christ on a bike, what a species.

I second the jaguar, the alligator snapping turtle, the bird eating spider and both the ants. Nature loves variety. And so does the worlds hardest creature competition.

I knew a french guy who was a bit like that. Surely the french aren't going to be nominated too?

The Lemming.

So had they jump off mountains

Thats not hard (or had). Thats just stupid.
They self-harm. If you asked them, they'd probably say it was a "cry for help".

If they could speak. Which they can't, cos they're stupid.

Would you mess with a self harmer? They just dont follow the rules and they are clearly packing a piece

Surely someone is going to second the Portugese Man o' War?
The Fish/Sea Mammals category is small.

Or the Box Jellyfish, take your pick.

It's shaping up to be a classic contest.

Just need some more amphibians/lizards.
